I saw this last night and enjoyed it a fair bit. I really like the meta and site specific themes and these were done really well. Some nice tension and a couple of jumps but also several quite funny moments. Good work with lights and sound and no budget (as they mention!). Ravenhill is pretty decent at his monologues but less so in interactions but it all really works in the context of the piece.
He was chatting away and signing playtexts outside in the bar afterwards.

I thought it was fun and interesting in the concept of this space. Bits of it were a little clunky but on the whole I thought it worked. It fits into the category for me of "I wouldn't cross London for it, but if it's easy to get to it's worth a view"
Interesting that this was intended to be the last production in the current KHT space but it will now probably be into next year before they actually move.

I saw it and will post more thoughts on it at a later point but in short the entire thing feels like a vanity project for Ravenhill.

It wasn't what I thought (hoped?) it would be: a sort of a farewell guided tour of the King's Head space - instead it's a variation on The Woman in Black. God knows Mr Ravenhill is a skillful playwright, and I like the idea of his responding to his new theatrical home, but invoking Joe Orton's murder ( which happened in the neighborhood but not at the King's Head) seemed a stretch, whereas what actually happened in that space is of interest - be it theatrical or personal. However, continuing the spirit of Dan Crawford with the buckets asking for more money at the end of the show isn't something which should continue. If bringing in Mr Ravenhill and making a leap to a new larger and ( hopefully) a more accommodating space is to lift the profile of the King's Head onto a different level then the begging for funds should stop.

I'd give them a pass on this one myself. The show is widely on offer. I have, more than once, added something to a bucket or made an extra purchase on the way out at something I've seen via seatfilling. If a large chunk of the audience is there on offer etc, an option to chuck 'em a few quid is fine with me. I can think of a couple of other pub theatre's that have a very similar approach.
