The whole album has now been released. Really can’t wait to see this film! I've just listened to a few of the big-hitters we haven't already heard (Nowhere To Go But Up, Can You Imagine That?, The Royal Doulton Music Hall, Turning Turtle) but have decided to not go back to them until I see the film now because I don't want to be over familiar with whole thing before enjoying (hopefully) my first viewing.
Thought all the songs were fab btw. I hope these next two weeks go quickly!

Nowhere to Go But Up builds rather well and Dame Angela sounds as brilliant as ever. And Streep is impressive on Turning Turtle. Look forward to seeing how it all fits together.

Emily really seems to be a dark horse now for an Oscar nomination following her Golden Globe and Critics Choice Award nominations. And whilst it appears Glenn Close, Olivia Coleman, Lady Gaga and Melissa McCarthy are locks, it does appear Emily will take that interchangable fifth slot at this point, but we shall see.

oh my word. I love the soundtrack: there is something so evocative but also fresh about it - and it only took me to track 3 ("a Conversation") to ever so slightly well up - beautifully simple and potent!
I adore the big numbers, and while I was not initially taken with "Turning Turtle", I cannot get that fabulous tune out of my head: those orchestrations.. wow!
I cannot wait to see this in the cinema.

I was a lucky duck & got to walk the blue carpet, attended the film premier at Royal Albert Hall last night.
I can’t get over that I was mere meters from Emily, Lin, Meryl, Ben and co last night.
The film is a marvel, such a glorious soundstage musical adventure of old that has some beautiful nods & harks back to the original but with its own sweet simple story that teaches lessons & tugs at the heart.
‘Trip the light Fantastic’ (the films ‘Step in Time’) is its most staged moment, the song & choreography is a pure joy to the senses.
Emily is practically perfect!!
I can’t wait to see this again!!

Two SAG nominations for La Blunt this week too. Best Actress for 'Mary Poppins Returns' and Best Supporting Actress for 'A Quiet Place'. Her route to an Oscar nod for Poppins is getting stronger each day methinks. I think she'll be the fifth nominee with Gaga, Close, Colman and McCarthy although it'll be interesting to see who gets the Golden Globe, Blunt or Colman.

The Times gave it 2 stars today. Probably not sophisticated enough for its readers. Bradders gave it 3 stars in the Gruan - but admitted that he didn't like the original much either. Not enough Nazis. |

I think that catagory is locked in now come the Oscars. Which is insane that we have a locked in five nominees yet it really could kind of go any way for the win and all five have fair reason to win. |

Just got back from a screening and adored it. Was never a massive fan of the original but this was right up my street: great set pieces (I found Light Fantastic breathtaking and I was loving every second of the finale). Emily Blunt: wow! Now she fits my idea of Mary Poppins. And so deliciously camp. And Meryl Streep in Norma Desmond drag was a sight to behold. A real joy.

LOVED this. Truly magical. I had a smile on my face from beginning to end which is unusual for an old Scrooge like me. Loved the nods to the original film, great performances and it looks and sounds amazing. I found the whole thing glorious! A great Christmas present to the child in all of us!

I think it's going to be a film that will attract a lot of us who where children when the original film was out and want to relive our childhood.

Just seen it at the newly-refurbished ODEON Leicester Square. Absolutely brilliant. Among so many remakes and sequels, this one got it right. Completely magical, brilliant music from Shaiman and Wittman, great performances. I cried several times and came out feeling so much happier and more carefree.
As a sidenote, it was wonderful that before the film we got barely any adverts but were instead treated to live music from an organist on the Compton Organ! I don't know if that's a regular occurrence at the Leicester Square cinema or just because they were reopening today after the renovations, but it was absolutely wonderful.

I think kids probably will see The Grinch, Aquaman, or Bumblebee and adults will gravitate towards Poppins |

This was everything I wanted it to be. Was most amused at the row in front of us at the cinema, made up of what looked like 8 Hell’s Angels on a day trip. They were all sobbing together at the end.

It was made more than a decade before I was born and even when I was babysitting the neighbours as a teenager the kids were begging to watch Mary Poppins all the time. Went with my mother last night and she was a teen when the original came out, so never had the same experience of seeing it as a young child and even she loved doing it. |
