I mean, wow. If I wasn't already seeing Follies on the 1st I'd so take up this opportunity.

I mean, wow. If I wasn't already seeing Follies on the 1st I'd so take up this opportunity. My immediate thought though was that whilst theres 10 times as many tickets, all this publicity about it is surely to get non-regular triers into the mix at possibly 10 times the demand? I never have Friday 40'd it, I'm not sure if this is the moment to try...

This 400 tickets thing is a good idea, but just wondering where the seats are, surely they're not going to sell tickets up in the balcony and then seats in stalls all for £40..

I don't understand why they are doing the whole "keep the secret" when they published the fricking book?

I don't understand why they are doing the whole "keep the secret" when they published the fricking book? Because anyone who's seen it will tell you that reading the script and watching it live are two completely different things. It's as much about keeping how they do things secret as what they do...

I just got tickets for September, with both shows on the same day (what I like to call, a double fist). I'm pretty indifferent about this which is why I did't jump on the ticket bandwagon when it opened (I'm only a psychopath and need to see everything when it comes to musicals, but pretty relaxed with plays). Is the new cast good compared to the original?

I saw the play Thursday night and last night and loved it. I can't compare the cast to the originals as I never saw them, but I thought the cast were excellent, especially Theo Ancient and Samuel Blenkin as Albus and Scorpius.

Won the Friday Forty Lottery yesterday. I'm going next Sunday. Saw it 3 times with the original cast and I'm now looking forward to see it with new cast.

So here's a question..I've only read and seen the first Potter book. Is Harry Potter background a pre-requisite?

There are references to events that have happened in other books, but I don't think you need to know the books at all to get something out of it. If you buy the programme, that gives you a summary of what happens in every book, plus some terms used that you may not be familiar with.

So here's a question..I've only read and seen the first Potter book. Is Harry Potter background a pre-requisite? I can't imagine seeing it without having knowledge of the whole story, as there are so many references peppered throughout it that only people who have at least seen the films (if not read the books) will understand, including some of the more minor characters involved. I doubt I'd have enjoyed it half as much if I didn't know the story, and if I were you I'd be more inclined to read the plot synopsis for the series on Wikipedia before you go rather than just reading the programme as you might not have time to read it all before the show starts. On the other hand, my very detailed knowledge of the books was a minor issue when I saw it as well as I noticed a couple of minor inconsistencies with the books that slightly irritated me, so in some respects you'll probably enjoy it more for not knowing it in detail!

Thanks guys. Any chance anyone has the program handy and can take a picture of the synopsis pages? I'm really not a HP fan (not anti-Potter, just never got into it), and I'm seeing this simply to tick a box and because I am curious and because I do love me some theatre magic.

Is the new cast good compared to the original? I saw the original cast over a year ago and thought they were perfect which makes it difficult to like the new cast as much as the original. They are different but still excellent. Most importantly, they work perfectly together as did the originals. From the new cast I prefer the guy playing Albus to the original, also the actor playing Draco Malfoy now has a closer resemblance to Jason Isaacs (playing Draco's dad in the films) what I really liked.

Return to Cursed Child for me today. First time as a year 2 student! Will be lovely to see different cast and a different take on these wonderful people I grew up with!

I bloody love this show. It didn't have quite the impact that the first viewing had on me - I think all the special effects are more impressive first view. Cast I felt were just slightly a notch below original cast (apart from the guy playing Albus who I thought was a lot better than Sam Clemmett).
For me, it's just wonderful to go on a 5 hour journey, with characters I love and care about, and get to see where the story continues too. Still in great shape. Long may it reign. 😊

Looks like they're struggling to sell seats for the Wednesday-Friday shows.
Both last week and this week, they've reduced tickets from £140 to £40. There are currently a few £40 seats for tomorrow's show available on the website.

I imagine it's the usual September lull and people have returned tickets realising they can't make the mid week dates. I imagine the weekend shows alone are enough to meet running costs and the weekday shows are just profit.

Only ever seen if from near the top of the gallery and with my day free tomorrow this was too good an opportunity to really see the show properly.

Have finally booked to see the show in two weeks time. There was an £85 for both shows in the Dress Circle for the 6th December, so I couldn't say no really. I am a huge Harry Potter fan but have been putting this one off for a while, don't really know why. But I'm excited to finally be seeing it now!
