I was 49450 at 15.15.03 (3.15pm and 3 seconds) - am now 44997 at 16.17.09 (4.17 and 9 seconds). so that's 450 in an hour ...
Gawd!
I will one day laugh softly about how, at 10.45, I made a cup of coffee and went for a wee in preparation for the 11am kick-off

Argh got to the front of the Nimax queue but was in a (pointless) meeting and by the time I got back my queue number had expired! Still at 66,000 on another Nimax window and 169,000 when I refreshed the expired one... I know it's not something that could ever be policed, but I do wish they'd been able to prevent people who've already been from buying tickets before everyone who hasn't yet seen it has got one. It's not particularly fair if one person's seen it multiple times when others are desperate to get their hands on some tickets (I think the same about other phenomenons like Hamilton). Either that, or do a day seat line rather than a lottery that at least rewards the dedicated rather than the lucky, or prevent a successful winner from entering the Friday Forty for a certain period of time after their win to give the rest of us a chance! With demand this high, they'd be mad to do day seats. It would start the day before, clog up the street, and be so many cold, disappointed people.

After 6 hours I finally managed to buy 3 tickets, row J of the Dress Circle, for a friend who is on holiday. I think I only got those because they are 3 seats by themselves. I started at 24,684 on the Nimax site. I also went to ATG and was 117,534 so eventually got the sold out notice with them.

Thank goodness for a friend who snagged me one. I started In the ATG & Nimax queues at 11 and 1110 respectively, got thrown out of ATG when tickets all sold, and when I finally closed down my computer at 5pm to go home I was about 16000th in the queue.

I was in B14 last week and it was a great view. You have to sit upright to see the floor but for the most part I couldn't fault it. Thank you! I'm 5'11, so what you think about the legroom? Sorry just saw this. I'm 6'0 and even though it's hardly spacious I didn't feel cramped.

It's not particularly fair if one person's seen it multiple times when others are desperate to get their hands on some tickets I quite like that idea, posterj, it seems fair. Day seats I think too are impractical, as firefingers points out. Cancelling every ticket posted for re-sale is another matter... It seems to me it could be quite easily done for the Friday Forty (though of course people could use different addresses to get around it). Cancelling every resale ticket and releasing them in batches for official sale would be great.

The £200 notes I've shelled out for my Potter crazy niece I'd normally get about 8 or 9 shows for that - its madness but its not for me and this will be a once in a lifetime experience for her.
She better be picking me a good care home now!!! Don't rely on that care home "plan". £200 will pay the fees for one day and perhaps a very few hours of a second day.

Joining the Nimax queue now puts you at 210,000... Guess people got home from work hoping to pick up tickets.

Is the queuing really the best system they could have in place? It's ridiculous.

Interestingly I'm not sure it's actually removing people from the queue if they do shut down the browser. I nipped on a few times this evening after giving up and it had retained my position (albeit a little bit lower to account for people buying tickets) but when I went on fresh on my phone the position I went in at was much higher. If that's the case it'd probably explain why Nimax is trickling down so slowly because the system is counting all those people who have given up as still active.

I've been wondering...
How much of this mayhem is because it is Harry Potter and how much is it because it is also one of the best things that has been produced on the West End for years?
It could have been done and failed so terribly. The magic ingredients don't always come together: Love Never Dies West End V Australia

It could have been done and failed so terribly. The magic ingredients don't always come together: Love Never Dies West End V Australia I think it's a mixture. Would it still be the same if the reviews were terrible? I think there are a lot of die hard Potter fans who would potentially avoid it if they had been told the play was awful. The reality today for a lot of fans was that if you don't get tickets today then you may not get the chance to see the play until 2018!

The message on the Nimax queue (223,000 strong when I just clicked into it, having given up after 9 hours in the queue at work and getting no higher than 50,000!) is now:

They need to get more productions open to cope with demand it would seem. I suggest building a new double auditorium theatre, where Parts 1 & 2 could be performed both nights in different spaces. The casts alternate so that you have the same actors on successive performances of Parts 1 and 2(as much as possible anyway). People wouldn't be able to turn up at the wrong building, but separate front of house areas would be best to avoid spoilers.

Add a trip on the Hogwarts Express to take you from one space to the other if you book Part 1 and 2 on the same day (and a Great Hall dining experience during the break between shows).... I fully expect a purpose-built theatre to pop up at the Wizarding World of Harry Potter in Orlando.

I bet Warner Bros are hoping JK Rowling lets them adapt the play into a film or two because it would easily do over $1bn especially if the original cast returns.

Both ATG and Nimax sold out.
Broadway thought they had the morale high ground with Hamilton, then they haven't seen the Potter effect.
They could separate Part 1&2 and open them in seperate theatres, here and Broadway.
I assume they sold every one of their 250.000 tickets, so assuming the average ticket is £70 this means they have banked a cool £17.5m today.

So it looks like Potter will sell out a year and a half in advance. They need to get more productions open to cope with demand it would seem. Why? They don't need to cope with demand; it's not a bother to them if you want a ticket now but can't get one until next year. In fact they don't want to: it's best for any production if demand exceeds supply because then they'll sell every single ticket and achieve the maximum excess of income over expenditure. It's not like there's a small window of opportunity after which the public will lose interest. Adding an extra production would merely turn, say, one ten-year run into two five-year runs, but it wouldn't make the show more profitable for the investors.
