Please do not merge? That's how the board works and by now you should know the guidelines and follow them accordingly. No one wants to see multiple threads for the same show otherwise the board will be taken over by the popular shows and the ones that are less seen will go unnoticed.
Anyway, there's no big deal about the cast change. It was pretty predictable that the originals would leave after a year, it's a demanding show. Obviously the Facebook account will promote the new cast, that's standard for any show.

This, so I took the liberty to ignore the "do not merge". Threads merged.

Sorry I have never seen so vile messages on facebook about a cast changing. PS the reason I asked for them not to merged . I thought the Original Thread was more about the plot rather than the cast changing. www.facebook.com/HPPlayLDN/?fref=ts

I thought the Original Thread was more about the plot rather than the cast changing. www.facebook.com/HPPlayLDN/?fref=tsNo problem. For future reference, all posts related to a show (whether it be plot, ticket information, cast etc.) should go in that shows respective thread. As for the comments on Facebook, unfortunately it's a reaction that is common, particularly from those who don't go to the theatre often, which is likely to be a big part of this show's audience. They're not used to cast changes. It's even more likely to happen with this show considering how far in advance tickets have to be booked. The whining and moaning from them is not appropriate however, they're paying for the show and not the cast and it's not even like it's a musical with a cast album so they know they'd enjoy the performances. There's every chance they may prefer the new cast.

I have tickets for June,
As much as i'd of loved to have seen the original cast again (and who wouldn't! They were all fantastic), it is the production that is the star and It will be great to see some new interpretations. It certainly seems they have gone for quality actors again.

I haven't seen the show yet, so the hype for the original cast means I am annoyed I might not see them.
But I did pay for the show, not the cast, so if I want to go before the original cast leave it's up to me to make that happen, which isn't impossible.

It's a shame to see people posting negative reactions about this cast change and there is clearly a lack of knowlede from some people about how casting in theatre works. However there are also some really lovely comments from people who have seen the play already and are wanting to go back to experience a new take on the characters

any Guesses for NYC cast? After their wins at the Oliviers I would bet Noma and Anthony would reprise their roles in Broadway.

I wouldn't be surprised if they opted for a entirely new cast for Broadway.

They showed clips of the play at the Olivier Awards last night, so looks like it's been filmed with the original cast!

I'll be in London in a few weeks to see Angels in America and might buy one of the premium tickets to see The Cursed Child as well. I'm a bit worried, though, since I'm not the biggest Potterhead around and was a bit skeptical about seeing a play about Harry Potter. But since they won so many Olivier Awards I'm tempted to go and see it. So I was wondering whether the play is also enjoyable for general theatre goers who aren't too crazy about the Potter universe?

Visually, it is stunning. I took my mother who knows the basic plot, and she adored it!

You definitely don't have to Potter crazy to watch it. You definitely need to have watched all the movies / read all the books to understand it.

I mean, if you don't actually like Potter then it's not going to convert you. Consider the depths of your feeling and if you're willing to do a little background reading so the plot makes sense. Not necessarily all the books, you can probably get by with synopses and extracts, but if you don't know the basics, you'll not get the full effect. Sure, you can appreciate *what's* happening, just not *why*.

The awards had nothing to do with me wanting to get tickets for this (snagged them before the awards). Over the years I have developed a connection with the characters, both in the books and movies. Gave the first 3 books to my children for Xmas when they were in early 20's. They looked at them like I was crazy but ended up reading them all before New Years. They were hooked. And then the grandkids made their appearance and Grandma was is Potter heaven this past summer when I took my grandson and granddaughter to Universal Studios Orlando and spent 3 days at Diagon Alley and Hogsmeade. We all three had our wands from Ollivanders.
I just wish they could be with me to see the journey continue. Yes, I guess I am a Potter Head

For those able to burn a fairly large hole in their wallets - it's worth noting Premium tickets do turn up for every performance a week or two ahead on the official websites.
I've decided to snag a pair for next Thursday/Friday - haven't seen it since previews and thought I'd quite like to catch the original company near the end of their run to see how things have developed.
Must admit though - I'm almost looking forward to getting a second look at the illusions more than anything else!

The Friday Forty didn't work today....technical glitch I think as the little wizard did not walk atall! It's usually quite disappointing when I don't win but this was an added level of disappointment!

Off to see both parts tomorrow for the first time, after snagging a ticket the other day. Cannot wait! I enjoyed reading the play so I am excited to see it all come alive on stage

After watching the Oliviers, am I the only one who has been pronouncing this play's title incorrectly??
I always thought it was Cursed, like in First. Not Curse-id. Many were pronouncing it as Curse-id. Who'd have thought?

I've been pronouncing it "Cursed", it's only on the Oliviers I've heard anyone pronouncing it "Curséd". Admittedly most of my theatre conversation takes place online, but still. It's Harry Potter, not Shakespeare, and I feel like "cursed" and "curséd" are two fairly different things anyway - surely the first is someone who has literally had a curse put on them or at least seems that way, the second is more of a swear, much more akin to saying "the bloody child"?

I saw this show this week. I've seen the movies but not read the books and could follow the plot. It doesn't rely on that history to tell a story about family, but having knowledge will let you buy into the myth much quicker than others.
As I'm sure others have said, the visual effects, the acting, the sound and lighting are all exceptionally well done.
I had small kids sat behind me and they were awe struck at seeing it (and quite scared at times). All I could think of was how amazing that would be to remember this as your first experience of a play.

I've always thought of it as cursed to rhyme with first. I agree with Baemax's interpretation: cursèd carries a feel of "damnable" about it, and if used to mean "under a curse" anywhere other than in poetry it sounds rather affected.
Bearing in mind that this is Harry Potter I'd expect it to mean "under a curse", unless the child in question is a bit of a wanker.
