They could've tried to make the Palladium look like a church for Sister Act. Stuck a steeple on top or something. I'll have a think about current shows now.

I would love more theatres to do this sort of thing! Creating their theatres to fit the show - great idea!! Anyone else think of any other theatres that could currently do this? It's more difficult to do due to listed status. Banners and marquees are fine but you couldn't do anything more than that, ALW got in huge trouble for repainting the Adelphi black for Love Never Dies.

I love it when a marquee looks very nice on a theatres and when producers try to make an effort with the theatre and how it looks to resemble the show

Easy peasy for shows that are set in a theatre. Or a railway station apparently!
Separately, more of you lot need to get your arses to the Palace pronto. The Potter discussion has dried up completely in the spoiler thread, and I can barely say anything to you lot for fear of spilling the secrets!

I really can't imagine how people will react if they read the script in isolation (not least because those people are probably more used to reading prose).
But hooray for being able to spoil it soon, one way or another.

But hooray for being able to spoil it soon, one way or another. I am telling everyone NOT to read the script. You need to see this, not read it. That said, the punches will come a lot quicker than they do and I'd love to see someone reading it to see their reactions. However the atmosphere in the theatre of discovering it all will never be beaten for me. I will buy the script as soon as it's out but I'll wait to read it until I've seen the show. Not that I have tickets to see it yet.

I can't wait to discuss the play too! Unfortunately I'm not seeing it until July 27th... pretty close to the script book's release but oh well, at least it's before opening night. I hope I can be kept unspoiled until then.

Just back from Part 1 no spoilers obviously.
Was sat in O14 right at the back of the balcony. It's far away from the action but I didn't miss a thing, had to lean up out of my seat for one little bit but otherwise pretty happy with my cheap seat I got 2 weeks ago when they released those few precious new seats. Oh I cold hear everything too!
Really impressed with part 1, it's so so polished. One or two tiny line fluffs but otherwise you wouldn't think it was a preview.
One thing if you are going and buy a programme, the initial cast list is a little spoilery so don't look at it until the interval!
Oh and it was really, very warm by the end of the show up in the balcony so if you are sat there think about what you are planning to wear!
Can't wait for part 2 tomorrow night, not venturing into the spoiler thread until then!

Don't know how I'm going to avoid spoilers in the intervening two weeks - might have to avoid the Internet!

I decided to be irresponsible and take a break from writing my dissertation to enter the Friday forty and actually managed to get some tickets. Most of the dates were already sold out by the time I got in, did they ever go fast. I cannot wait to go, this is going to be the perfect break from feeling crushed by my schoolwork.

I keep forgetting about this. Well done though.

When I collected my tickets yesterday I asked about returns. They said they had quite a few for this and next week trickling in.
So today someone I work with went to the box office at lunchtime, wandered straight in and bought 2 front row seats for shows next week! So if you work nearby or are in the area, check in with the box office!

I don't really understand how the online waitlist works then! I thought the idea was that people who had signed up to that got first dibs. So far I've only had one email about return tickets, but there seem to be loads knocking around.
As it worked out, I ended up getting lucky on the Nimax website last week but if I hadn't I might have been slightly peeved at the lack of communication as to the various different ways you might be able to obtain returns.

I got two rear stalls on consecutive nights through the returns email I'm so confused! I feel like the ticketing system is needlessly complicated. As is the security at the theatre. What I particularly enjoyed was the way they searched bags if you had one and scanned you if you didn't. But nobody got both their bag and self searched. On that note - a warning to anyone trying to take food into the theatre. If you get a mean person at security they will make you throw it away.

Yeah, the wishlist list seems confusing. From my impression, they had quite a few tickets available through that system.
I got mine back in March. I had gotten an email from the wishlist saying they'd contact me in the next 10 days. That didn't happen so I replied to that e-mail asking what had happened, and only then they replied back giving me three different options, including the second preview on June 11, July 27 and August 14. I ended up taking the July 27 tickets (both parts same day) because I decided that I wanted to see the version of the play that was the closest to the definite version, but still see it before opening night and the release of the script book. And they were nice sixth row stalls seats
A week after I got these tickets I decided that since I'm making the trip all the way from Mexico, I'd like to see the play twice during my stay. I e-mailed them asking for more options for a second showing and they immediately replied back offering me Dress Circle tickets for Part 1 on July 28 and Part 2 on July 29. I ended up taking them as well.
So I feel like there ARE return tickets available (I've also seen people online complaining that they've had their return tickets up in the wishlist for months), but they haven't found an efficient way to get those back to people. They should just put them up in the ticketing website, and announce on social media. They would sell out pretty quickly, I'm sure.

Yes that would seem to be the most obvious option. The security lady I got told me I must throw my food away immediately. It did not occur to her that there was an alternative. Luckily I had actually eaten it already and had just yet to dispose of the Pret bag.

I had both my bag and myself searched for the first preview. And an argument about food - I had a brownie from Lola's Cupcakes in my bag (I'm dairy intolerant so get one whenever I'm in the area) and the security guard was insistent that I couldn't keep it to eat on the way home. I had to throw half of it out, it was too big for me to scoff the whole thing before going in. However, the faff with that meant he didn't finish checking my bag and so didn't make me throw out my water bottle, which was a relief since it spared me the job of waiting in the crazy queue to buy an extortionately priced one inside.

On the subject of returns, just picked up a very good pair of stall seats for October by phoning Nimax. Absolutely wonderful service. Very little availability for the times I could go, but if you can be very flexible about dates you might strike lucky.

I tried calling a little earlier and was sternly told that returns are only available via the official email subscription? Maybe I just got unlucky with who answered!
