I saw the concert on TV. Enjoyed a lot of it, although I think they could have dropped a couple of other numbers to have included at least one number from Anyone Can Whistle and Assassins. Do I want to see it again? Not especially. But certainly not at those sorts of prices? And Peters' voice ain't what it once was. At the beginning of the concert Cameron said that the evening was from shows that he had been involved with so I presume he never produced anyone Can Whistle or Assassins.

I'm booked for the first show which only has a handful of seats left but agree that as you look further into the run there are lots of unsold seats. Sondheim is always a fairly hard sell. I believe there are still more "names" to be announced so, depending in who they are, could produce an increase in sales.

I just think as it was supposed to be a really good tribute to God it seemed a shame to exclude them.

I don't recall the Rosalie Craig Company struggling to get audiences and clearly the NT's Follies sold so badly they brought it back and hardly anyone went to see Ball and Staunton in Sweeney Todd. Please...

I'm a huge Sondheim fan and have seen pretty much every musical, gala and charity concert in London since my introduction to his music at the NT production of Sweeney Todd with Julia Mackenzie many years ago. But when was the last open ended Sondheim musical? They pretty much all have limited runs which sell very well because they are limited. None have gone on for years and years.

You and I can name lots of Sondheim runs of 3-6 months that did very well and could probably have run longer. Old Friends is a similarly length run - and with more names than Company had - but ain't selling. Sondheim ain't the problem.

Granted covid was the main attibuted factor but even before any lockdown took affect sales were very slow, despite huge casting. I bet the producers were counting their blessings when they were able to pull the run and write it off as coronavirus.

They've got ages to sell the tickets and things seem to move closer to curtain these days so I think it'll be hard to predict failure right now.
RE: The recent revival of Company, it actually unfortunately did end up struggling a little bit towards the middle/end of the run even though it had a strong start.

This and Sunday. Two very slow movers in terms of sales. It's not due to a lack of appetite. It's the prices.

It did sit down for 6 months though, that's pretty good going imo. Extending the run through Jan/Feb/March was always going to be a risky move given the usual post-Christmas slump.

Surely this will have to be heavily discounted?

Booked front row seats to see this just before Christmas.
Having recently rewatched the BBC recording, I can’t wait!

The cast recording is taking a long time to be released. Can't be much longer surely ?

Shocked not to see Josefina Gabrielle in this, but thrilled that Damien is involved - hoping he will lead Sunday with Bernadette at the end of Act 1, and do Agony with Gavin Lee

Some good names added especially Damian Humbley and Bradley Jaden. I was hoping Rob Houchen would also be there but maybe he is up to other things.

This will be why Jason Pennycooke isn't doing A Strange Loop

I've booked for the eve performance 17/11/23. £38 in the upper circle, but that's got me off to a good start planning my pre-Christmas weekend!

Any chance to see Gavin Lee on a UK stage is worth a ticket for me! I was worried that we wouldn’t see him for a long while after the Beauty and the Beast tour ended

Had the most amazing chat with Lea Salonga tonight and she told me she’s doing the “Sweeney” parts of this show l which excites me SO MUCH.
