Super News! I hope this actually happens. So much is promoted as a Christmas Broadcast but then gets put back or replaced last minute for various reasons, with no slot confirmed I'm not getting excited but if it does TX I'll be very happy.

I am sure I read that the filming was the dress rehearsal that day not the ticketed event in the evening.

I wonder if they'll edit out some flubs and dub them over like in the Sunday in the Park proshot Highly likely with something like this that they also recorded the dress rehearsal and what gets broadcast will be an edit of the "best bits" from that and the final performance. It's a dual-use practice which works as a full camera rehearsal, but also provides a backup recording to cover any issues on the night. Excited to see it again. The atmosphere on the night was electric and I hope that translates on screen. |

They certainly were filming on the night as it was live broadcast to the Prince Edward theatre.
As mentioned above they will, no doubt, edit the best bits.
So glad its finally coming.

I‘m fairly indifferent to Michael Ball generally, but was there on the third row that night and thought he was incredible… remember saying to my other half that I thought he more than justified his star status, and was surprised to hear others didn’t feel the same way! |

Can't wait to see it close up as was there on the night. Some great performances and re the comments about Mr Ball he is always vocally reliable and from memory performed well on the night. Indeed there were few duff performances from memory.

Shame I missed this. Wonder if they’ll do it again. Tried to hint that it was coming back and no one believed it. 😎 They’ve already hired crew and the crew have been told tentative dates, so it sounds (hopefully!) fairly far along in the planning stages. |

They recorded both the dress and the evening, so we stand a chance of getting Judi Dench actually singing the right words to Send In The Clowns, and AJ Casey not getting lost in the middle of Getting Married Today (which she took on at the 11th hour, and by all accounts smashed in the matinee)

AJC did go up on the words but covered it brilliantly despite the tempo being pretty impossible.
But the star of the evening, in my opinion, was Hadyn Gwynne. Her duet of "Little Things You Do Together" with Rob Brydon was comic gold and her "Ladies Who Lunch" was a masterpiece. Never knew she had that belt on her.
Can't wait to see it again.

I doubt we will get to see the whole thing as it was nearly 3 hours and that was with some numbers on the song list being cut and not performed. My guess is a 2 hour concert but I really hope I'm wrong and we get it all. |
