It's a Sondheim concert. In the Sondheim theatre. They're doing it to be in the theatre dedicated to him. That's why. Losing thousands of pounds just for the optics of saying it's in the Sondheim theatre is a really stupid commercial decision, and also potentially denying the charitable foundation an awful lot of money. I agree. They could have filled the Palladium or even the Dominion if they wanted to, letting more people appreciate the man's work, the amazing performers on the bill and had tickets at more accessible prices across the board. Yes it's called The Sondheim Theatre now, but its not as if its a theatre linked to his work and It's only had 1 Sondheim show run there, ever. |

Just calling it for what it is. If this was a proper charity event, or something more aligned with celebrating his life/work, it would be a fixed 12 month run at the noel coward or similar midsized theatre with all profits being donated. |

The lineup keeps getting better. With all these names being announced, how long do we reckon the show will be? It's starting at 8pm on a Tuesday evening after all and some of the acts are in shows where they need to do a matinee the following day.

We could shorten the running time already by limiting it only to scores for which Sondheim contributed both music and lyrics. I don’t think anybody going to this will be hoping for half of West Side Story.

I'm happy as Rob Houchen, Julian Ovenden ahd AJ Casey are 3 of my favourite actors.
I think there will be some ensemble, group numbers so the new names could be involved in that. No disrespect to them but many of the actors previously announced are more "headliners"

I’d be surprised if this isn’t recorded, with so many things being recorded or broadcast now. Another date might be difficult with so many people having other commitments, but maybe a matinee too?
