I’m surprised that this isn’t selling, she extended the run in NY, I thought? Seemed to do really well in New York, surprisingly- ran for over a month originally, sold out every performance from what I could tell. I think it ended up extending three times? I didn't think it would be so hard to get a ticket, but maybe I dodged a bullet.

Izzard may be a dreadful actor but he has been in 30 or so films and a similar number of tv shows. I'd have thought his video and streaming income might be decent, as well. Somehow, he has kept working.
Making a loss not good for the ego or status.
Correct, it’s his ego rather than his bank balance that’s at risk. But I imagine he’ll blame the audience, say they’re not “open minded” or something. However this show is almost certainly not the worst Shakespeare presented at this venue as us old-timers will recall. After the performance last night, Izzard spoke to the audience. Said they were trying to do something different and it was for the young and young at heart. Not to believe the reviews because reviewers were old fuddy-duddies stuck in their ways. If we enjoyed it (I didn't) then tell our friends. Always someone-else's fault.

I wonder which tv sofas will entertain a promo visit.

For ‘the young and young at heart’??
Hamlet??!
Surely that’s the first time anyone has tried to describe it that way…

Also, is it really something different ? There have been 2 or 3 one man Macbeths going back decades and several other one man versions of entire books.

People in the expensive seats were shouting things like "we love you, Eddie" (not during the performance) and a few people gave him a standing ovation.

It's the pictures that got small"

Incidentally, it's only three stars in the Telegraph!
