She was 91. Although best remembered for Chitty Chitty Bang Bang (her "Lovely Lonely Man" never to be surpassed), she took over from Julie Andrews on Broadway in My Fair Lady and also appeared in What Makes Sammy Run?and Kwamina (a score really worth rediscovering), The King and I and Hans Christian Andersen in London. She was a notable Desiree in A Little Night Music and was in Brigadoon (with Robert Goulet) on television. RIP.

Apparently she did the music box scene in one take. I re watched it earlier and still love it. A beautiful voice. RIP.

Sad news but she was a good age and I believe the film is on TV today. I was always surprised to realise she was 37/38 when she was in Chitty. I always had her down as in her 20's. The fact Dick Van Dyke (still sprightly at 96) was older than Lionel Jeffries who played his father-in-law was always pretty well known but I had never realised Sally Ann was only a few years older.
On Stage her part is always played by a yonger person compared to who plays the Professor.
