Went to see this today and really enjoyed it. It's not the best Ridley Scott film and it's a bit too long but it's worth watching for Lady Gaga who along with Jared Leto and Al Pacino are great.
Interesting fact is that Salma Hayek is married to the CEO of Kering who is the parent company of Gucci.

I also enjoyed this yesterday and was riveted throughout in an almost-full screening, though for a Curzon audience there was rather more coming and going during the film than usual or desirable. I know it's long, but the running time is available. I have no interest in fashion in general or Gucci in particular but am happy to be engrossed in any fascinating story, well told and this is certainly one.

I'm not too surprised that the Gucci family aren't happy with him, no one comes off well at all.

This is a solid four-star drama and well worth seeing. I knew nothing about Gucci and had completely forgotten about the dramatic events featured, that were well reported at the time.
I agree that Gaga, Leto and Pacino were great, and I'd be amazed if all three are not nominated for Oscars. I didn't even realise it was Pacino until the credits rolled.
After the dismal Eternals (two stars) and the execrable Spencer (one star), it was a relief to find a well-told tale.

However that is not what other reviewers are saying. The BeyondTheTrailer reviewer was not impressed at all. Too long and Lady Gaga disappears in the second half for no reason. Leto`s performance is over the top.

I liked some of it, but for me it was too long, parts of it really dragged. Also, Jared Leto's performance, for me, was just bizarre. He did make me laugh a couple of times, but the overall portrayal left me baffled. Adam Driver was good, but I found his accent to be inconsistent. For me, Lady Gaga was absolutely the best thing about this film, she was excellent throughout. What I did find though, is that none of the characters were particularly likeable, which made it hard to care for any of them at the end.

I saw some reviews that say Jared Leto seems to be in a completely different movie.

Haven’t seen it yet, possibly seeing it this Friday or Saturday but there’s a nice interview with Jeremy Irons about this in tonight’s Evening Standard: I think he’s a bit of an old ham to be honest, reduced to bit parts in Batman films in recent years but I quite like him all the same (I don’t know if he’s done any stage work, I saw him and Isabella Rossellini in her show about Ingrid Bergman at the RFH a few years ago and let’s just say I found his performance a bit erm, ‘fruity’ but good luck to him 😂)

I saw Jeremy Irons in 'Long Day's Journey'. I was expecting a hammy performance, but though he was quite good, maybe the part of James Tyrone was a good fit for him as the character is an actor.
Haven't seen House of Gucci yet, but I heard Mark Kermode's review; he was scathing about Jared Leto's OTT performance.

I can see why some people think that way about Leto's performance, but I've come across Italians like that. I found it very credible.
In truth, there are plenty of "OTT" characters in real life. Imagine if an actor portrayed Rylan Clark-Neal accurately; anyone with no experience of the original would probably be scathing.
One thinks of attempts to portray Truman Capote, Quentin Crisp, Orson Welles, Talulah Bankhead, Bette Davis, etc. Such rôles are a poisoned chalice, because, get it right, and you'll be accused of going over the top.
Does anyone have information on what the real Paolo Gucci was like? I see Tom Ford didn't rate the portrayal, but he does say that Paolo was wacky and eccentric when they met.

I’ve got next to no interest in fashion at this end of the market, I’ve never been in a Gucci outlet as I imagine I couldn’t afford a carrier bag but it was a good story (I had no idea any of this had gone on until I heard Ridley Scott was making a film about it)

Lady Gaga's character was not wonderful in the film which means she was amazing! if you get my drift shocking this is her only second film
