This must only be a short run if it's Spring 2022. The only available gap is the 4 weeks between Cyrano and Jodie Comer.

How do we stop Ivo and his 87 cameras?

I was pleased to see the pricing for this isn't ludicrous. Two seats in the second row, £60 each.
The Pinter, it seems, is the go to theatre for monologues.

Yes please and thank you I'm sure Ivo can restrain himself for this, unless he sticks her in a phonebox on the Embankment and beams that into the Pinter..

Not that reasonable for a 30 min show. That’s £2 a minute

First preview tonight.
Went up 30 mins late - stage manager kept coming out and apologising that there were technical issues (although there was no visible tech to the show other than some sound stuff so maybe it was that).
I don't know how to do spoilers, so I'll be brief. Ivo has moved away from cameras which is a blessing, but shoved Ruth Wilson in a glass box instead. His adaptation is not great - it zips along fairly well and Wilson is (as ever) compelling, but I didn't emotionally connect to the story or the character at all. I came out sort of going...what was the point of it? It was 70 minutes of my life I won't get back, I'm glad to have finally seen Wilson on stage, but I'd struggle to give it more than 3 stars really...
Side note, I had one of the £5 tickets in the balcony, which upon arrival we were told we would be able to see NOTHING from so we're giving 'restricted view' stalls seats (not at all restricted!) so that was a win. Lot of the audience will have a restriction in view though because if the whole glass box thing and the way it's been directed. I can't imagine anyone above Dress Circle level will see at all.
Went up at just before 8pm and we were finished at 9.08

Oh, that is interesting. I got an email saying that from our seats (£10 ones) we would simply not be able to see anything and we could have a refund, a change to other restricted seats or as it was so bad we could have a refund and sit in those seats for free. Given number of tickets left on sale and Rush tickets available I asked for a refund. Guess I should have taken another 'restricted' seat!

They seem to have a few different policies about reseating people. This is the email I got (£10 balcony tickets):
"As we have installed the set in the theatre, we have become aware that the restricted view from the balcony seat(s) you have booked is greater than anticipated. We have therefore upgraded you to an alternative seat(s) for the same performance, at no additional cost. These seats may have still have a slightly restricted view as per your original booking. You will receive new e-tickets shortly."

I emailed around 9.30 last night. I just got an email back 2 minutes ago confirming my refund has been processed.

I’m there tomorrow matinee, followed by Small Island in the evening. I wish I’d done them the other way around so I could get an early train home

What's odd about this is that it's not a new production - it's been around since 2009 when it was done in Amsterdam (in Dutch). It's since toured around the world including to Sydney, Dublin and New York. So it's not as though Sonia Friedman and her team didn't know what the set was going to be like when they put the tickets on sale - sounds as though someone got their measurements horribly wrong!

I did ask the box office if they'll be offering refunds for the Royal Circle and they said no.

The view must really be awful if they’re giving refunds and moving people voluntarily. Just waiting for someone to justify it with “You paid for The Human Voice, you got a human voice.”

From the front row of the Royal Circle the view was actually great - very brief moments where Ruth's head was cut off when she was towards the back of the stage otherwise fine. The further you go back in the Royal Circle, the more pronounced that would be.
They had 2 large screens in Balcony and there were people sat up there tonight but I can't imagine they did anything other than watch the screens.

I pictured a phone box but how big is it if she's moving around in it?

I was at the first preview with the 30 minutes delay as well. I was sitting at the Dress Circle and the view was fine. She spends the whole 70 minutes of the play inside the box in the size of a long corridor. Not very exiting or innovative. Ruth Wilson was good but after 30 minutes i was bored. I had a real problem with the ending which i found awful especially in the #metoo era.

It sounds tedious. Pedro Almodóvar made a short film out of this with Tilda Swinton. Might be worth checking out.
And this is not selling well at all, is it

I don’t mind Ivo Van Hove in general, but was bored senseless watching Hedda Gabler, so no way would I book this. Out of curiosity is there any random WTF moments like her stapling-the-flowers-to-the-wall in HG or is it just her in a box the entire time?
