The Gunpowder Plot - Tower Of London

I had an e mail last week about this and took a look but its £50 a ticket which seems quite a lot.

I don't know if most American tourists will really care (or know) enough about this event to go. But it does sound interesting. Has anyone seen Layered Reality's current London production, the immersive 'War of the Worlds'?

The trailer gives us nothing. But looks like it isn’t gonna be a subtle discussion of the reasons behind the plot and the context of post Reformation prejudice, eh?

I loved that place. Went round three times in a row with kids….a nice sit down and rest.

And there was me thinking they used mud!

I went to this show yesterday and thought it was a waste of £50. The VR stuff was exciting because it was new to me but there were glitches in the video that should have been ironed out long before opening night. For the non-VR bits, we were led from room to room a pointlessly large number of times.

FUN FACT: There was a scene where we (the guests) needed to hide from the 'guards' who were trying to break into the room - so one of the characters opened up a bunch of secret doors in the walls and asked us to hide inside those in pairs. So my companion and I go into this pitch-black, broomstick-cupboard-sized room with no door handle on the inside and no keyhole to peep out of, and we wait patiently. The guards come and go, then the character opens all the doors to get the guests out and shepherds them along to the next room, EXCEPT my companion and I were forgotten. So we're still standing there wondering whether to knock or shout or do nothing - is this part of the act or have we been forgotten?

Turns out it wasn't part of the act, so when we were finally rescued and reunited with the other guests, we all had a great big laugh, which completely killed the tragic effect the previous scene was supposed to have. What a funny experience. War of the worlds was brilliant (same company) and immersive with live actors and scenes in a variety of places however they too had glitches at times on the ‘bridge’ when the Martians first attack. The ‘people’ kept lolling to one side. Not sure whether that was a one of and was fixed but the overall experience was fantastic.
