I don't know if most American tourists will really care (or know) enough about this event to go. But it does sound interesting. Has anyone seen Layered Reality's current London production, the immersive 'War of the Worlds'? "Using a combination of live theatre and the latest digital technology you will journey back in time and experience the deception first hand..."
“Think extraordinarily detailed 360 sets that you can touch and feel and smell. Think boundary-breaking immersive technology paired with cutting-edge theatrical innovation. Everything we are working on is to make this dark and superbly rich world come to life, and this experience utterly unforgettable.” Hannah Price, Creative Director

Oh I don’t know, when I visited Boston I went on that ship in the harbour and threw fake crates of tea over the side (I’m not sure I paid for the privilege though). Anyway I think it sounds good 😑 ETA Massachusetts not Lincolnshire 😌

The trailer gives us nothing. But looks like it isn’t gonna be a subtle discussion of the reasons behind the plot and the context of post Reformation prejudice, eh?

Weren't the Vikings too recent to become fossilised?

Isn't he in Mar-a-Lago whining about how the 2020 election was stolen?

So you were using the American definition all along, BurlyBeaR? My bad! Bit of a stretch, though, to describe a turd as being part of an animal.

I was so disappointed when I visited there this summer. My sister-in-law had made such a big deal about the smells, but I either couldn't smell them through my mask or they've toned them down since they opened. he title reminds me if the movie V for Vendetta If they used the mask from that movie to advertise the event, I take back what I said about American tourists not being interested!

I went to this show yesterday and thought it was a waste of £50. The VR stuff was exciting because it was new to me but there were glitches in the video that should have been ironed out long before opening night. For the non-VR bits, we were led from room to room a pointlessly large number of times. FUN FACT: There was a scene where we (the guests) needed to hide from the 'guards' who were trying to break into the room - so one of the characters opened up a bunch of secret doors in the walls and asked us to hide inside those in pairs. So my companion and I go into this pitch-black, broomstick-cupboard-sized room with no door handle on the inside and no keyhole to peep out of, and we wait patiently. The guards come and go, then the character opens all the doors to get the guests out and shepherds them along to the next room, EXCEPT my companion and I were forgotten. So we're still standing there wondering whether to knock or shout or do nothing - is this part of the act or have we been forgotten? Turns out it wasn't part of the act, so when we were finally rescued and reunited with the other guests, we all had a great big laugh, which completely killed the tragic effect the previous scene was supposed to have. What a funny experience. If you're interested, I have written out a detailed review (with spoilers) on my website: www.theatrebee.com/post/review-the-gunpowder-plot-fails-to-rouse-despite-high-production-value

If you're interested, I have written out a detailed review (with spoilers) on my website: Thank you for this; I was thinking of getting tickets when my great-niece visits next month from California, and don't think I'll bother now. I doubt she'll have heard of any of the history and it doesn't sound like this will kindle any interest in it. {Spoiler - click to view}About the unnecessary 'boat' ride... I've done a couple of dark rides (sans VR) that essentially have the same thing. You clamber into a boat and in one case, it was pulled along about 15 feet and you clambered out at the far end of the same pier you used to board. In another, you didn't move at all, just an animated sea battle took place 'around' you, then you got out.
I would love to see a VR-enhanced version of the show Alice's Adventures in the Underground done in the Vaults a few years ago by Les Enfants Terrible. It was really fun and interactive and would have been even better with VR. (The V&A's exhibit of Alice had a VR segment which was wonderful... falling down the rabbit hole went on long enough that you could look up, down and around and see all the stuff Alice saw as she fell.)

War of the worlds was brilliant (same company) and immersive with live actors and scenes in a variety of places however they too had glitches at times on the ‘bridge’ when the Martians first attack. The ‘people’ kept lolling to one side. Not sure whether that was a one of and was fixed but the overall experience was fantastic.
