He seems to think that if he doesn't shoe-horn in an anecdote about a famous person on every page, the reader will get bored.)
In my case he's right. In Denis Norden's autobiography he cut everything out except the anecdotes. It is great.

He's a good actor, but I can't take to him as a person. Being rude about your contemporaries isn't a substitute for an interesting or thoughtful personality. I have a friend who worked at the university who said he was very 'handsy' with the woman who helped him with his robes when he was getting an honorary degree. I'd hope that to be a one off (he'd apparently had a drink by the time he'd turned up), but he's quoted as saying that he worries about #metoo and what it means for young men and his two sons, which makes me wonder if he's also worried about himself. Michael Gambon said while filming Harry Potter he had to lift her (Maggi Smith) up in the air and when he was lowering her back onto the ground, he would touch her boobs. 47:00
