What a mess
I think I shall give the rest a miss
Too much sound and fury signifying nothing at all

It felt like a mess. Hopefully it will all pull together by the last episode, but knowing Chibnall probably not!

As an opening episode from Chris Chibnall, that was certainly better than what I was expecting based on his previous writing though there was a lot there that didn’t make much sense. For example, why only 1 weeping angel and where did that mattress in the TARDIS come from? It was nice to see Yaz as a much more developed character here, though for me the jury is still out on John Bishop as a series companion. Maybe his character Dan might be another Donna Noble type character.
Ultimately too much style over substance in the end.

God its frustrating isn’t it? So many great ideas executed so poorly. Loved the greatest hits of villains. Liked Bishops tragic Dan a lot. Hope his selfless nature isn’t foreshadowing. But Jodie Whittaker appeared to be doing an impression of herself. Hard to play an ancient shape shifting alien, but I liked her better in the beginning.

I am in the pitiful position of just being grateful that this is on. But I realize, looking at the last series' episodes, I have little or no memory of what happened. Perhaps like the Doctor and the Division, I've managed to wipe my memory..
As an episode it was chaotic - which is all right, if it can be pulled together. But if the dog story is the calibre of dénouement, it does not bode well.

If this programme isn’t ripe for cancellation, or at least a very long break, I don’t know what is.

I’m just glad Chibnall is going to be nowhere near the 60th anniversary story and RTD is back at the helm for it.

I believe that RTD won't start production until 2023. So we might get around a 22 month gap

It may be too little too late after the retcon that was the Timeless Child, and RTD has endorsed it so the chances of that being reversed is unlikely.

I turned on the telly late and saw John Bishop caged by a giant talking dog and turned straight off again.

I watched about 15 minutes yesterday but just felt so bad, poor effects, things sign posted so clearly no surprises and just bit embarrassing. Should I try and see out the episode?
