Apparently huge offence has been taken at a blog on the LTD site about a dream cast for Addams Family. Then this. So, no more dreamcasting?

I saw the original tweet. I don’t think anyone’s saying no to dream casting, but it was certainly bad taste to put up a “who should be in the west end transfer of this show” when the tour cast are just about to have their first performance.

Seems like some people want it all stopped.

Oh my goodness, how pathetic these performers have become in the social media age. Sabrina, Alice - get your head down, be professionals.

Is LTD a stakeholder or involved in the touring or West End productions? Or are they commenting as an interested but uninvolved bystander?

Have I missed a transfer announcement somewhere? Or is it more wishful thinking?

I suppose this means that that every time a new musical is announced our members can’t dreamcast Louise Dearman as the female lead.
oh well. It was good while it lasted 🙂

There’s a huge difference between fans dream casting a show as it’s announced (without a cast) - or dream casting a hypothetical production that they would like to see - and a Theatre site with 160K followers writing an article about replacing an actual cast that’s opening a show this week.
It’s literally like going up to an actor at stage door and say “I though you were fine but I’d rather they replaced you with [insert fave] if this transfers into town.” That’s not dream casting, it’s just being unnecessarily thoughtless and unkind.

I wonder if their views would have been different if they were the names being put forward in the dream cast.
Everyone has their own favourites. No one was going to be fired because some random on the internet said they wanted to see the 3rd midwife play Morticia Adams. Actors and performers have got very insecure these days. Don't worry about what the internet thinks, get on with the job you're doing.

Do we hear from footballers complaining that they haven't been picked for a fantasy football league team? Of course we don't.
Speculating about the casting of a hypothetical production is part of the fun of theatre as a hobby. It isn't an attack on those who don't make a given list.

Errr Sabrina, Alice, "It’s everyone’s DREAM to be cast." etc.- what the heck... dreamcasting is a FUN thing fans do, not a personal attack on anyone else's casting or abilities! Focus that passion on doing a job well instead 😂
I would only draw the line at casting directors publicly dreamcasting for 1) their own show that 2) is ongoing and 3) involves actors outside that "dream cast"!

This a bit like all of those ‘we heard you reviewing our show on the train home, please be aware that cast members might be on the same train and be kinder’.tweets that performers have started putting up.
How about ‘please be aware that punters may be on the same train as you so toughen up!’ You aren’t performing into a vacuum. If they’re making unkind personal comments fair enough, but if they are talking about what they liked and didn’t like I really don’t see a problem.
I was really looking forward to seeing the announced Addams cast but they’ve pulled Bristol so balls to them! Scott Paige was a hoot as Fester when he covered last time around, and the girl playing Wednesday has an amazing voice.
