Yes, that's the screen I've had in the past, but today I did not get that. I added two seats to my basket on one browser window, added two seats from a second show in a second browser window, clicked the button to continue to checkout, and there was the donation already added.
I am guessing that the Donation banner at the top was not rendering for some reason - maybe overload on the server? If so, that's better, as it means it was a technical issue rather than a change in policy.
It's an odd argument that an organisation that has charitable status can be held accountable to a different set of standards, even assuming you support what the charity is doing.

I see where you're coming from but I do think there is a different standard for what I'll tolerate from a commercial enterprise and what I'll tolerate from a charitable organisation. I don't think they should be secretly taking your money, but if they try heavily to influence you into donating to them at every opportunity I think they get that right by being a charity as opposed to a money grabbing fatcat.

The ticket price is my donation. Anything else should be opt-in not opt-out. Agreed. I'm happy to donate but it will be to a small venue like Jermyn St or Southwark Playhouse. I suspect neither will have corporate sponsorship and both have interesting programmes unlike the NT
