Another one who didn’t think I’d be into it and...well I’ve seen it twice now.

Saw this tonight and sometimes I found it downright bizarre but it was a lot of fun!

Going to be very intrigued by the new West End transfer cast. So many strong cast members have signed up to do other things. Neil and Laura are doing panto. Scott is doing Seussical at the Southwark Playhouse. I’m sure there’s going to be other people with prior engagements too. I can imagine they are a bit annoyed they didn’t know sooner, it was probably a last minute opening at the Ambassadors. I don’t know whether I’ll be seeing the transfer, I feel like I want my lasting memory of the show to be with this cast.

It's only 20 days until it reopens at the Ambassadors.

I can imagine that may be the case. I know that Neil is doing the first few weeks at Ambassadors before heading to panto so could be the case for the others that have later plans too.

I've been told that "half the cast aren't going with it"

As soon as it was announced I suspected the casting would be an issue, it feels very much a "theatre has been freed up, grab it and go asap" without thinking too much about the logic with it regarding the casting haha.

Maybe some of the original cast can make a return then, that might ease the situation I'd they already know the show. Either way, i'm sure it will work out and be fine.

Is it known if Rob Houchen is transferring?

Both Neil and Emily are going to be on the Club Tropicana tour from January, so any hope of extension at the Ambassadors is unlikely unless another cast change occurs.

Wow I didn't expect that, a shame for all cast and crew involved and for the theatre staff who now have no work on the run up to Christmas.

Wow, that was unexpected. Although I did seem a bit too ambitious and spur of the moment a decision in truth. A shame, I'd of liked to see it.

What a shame! Fingers crossed they can find a future life for it somewhere, it's one of my fave shows of 2018.

The West end run has been cancelled. It solves the casting problems I suppose. Hopefully they'll manage to get it into the West End next year.

Really sad for the investor to pull at last minute, gutting for the cast and crew involved but it’s a good musical that deserves more life!

Was going to go in November too as I can’t make any repeat visits at TOP. This truly deserves a proper run. Wonder whether it really is investors and not just casting issues at such short notice. I hope it’s the latter.
There was a recent video of Laura and Rob recording Comic Book Kind of Love. Any hints of a proper cast album rather than Ben Adams substituting vocals?

I hate to be that guy, but just throwing it out there. Taking the producer out of the issue, surely this was somewhat inevitable sadly that either it would close early or play to half empty theatres. It's not a known show outside the theatre community, it hasn't sold that great this time around compared to the first time around, and also, you can't just announce a transfer for the same month, that's crazy! That said, I'm gutted that it has come down to this because it means more people won't get to see this and it would of been fun to see another new British musical in the West End, following hot on the heels of Jamie and Six. Hopefully next year!

Very sad. I hope it gets there next year. I won’t get to see it again now. :-(

How awful for everyone. Such a great show. Could Bil come to the rescue?

And I'm not sure they could strip the set back anymore, even with Bill K involved doing his utmost to make it look as cheap as possible 😉

Interval. Why did no-one warn me to bring earplugs?
ETA Now finished. That was very loud, very camp & had even more lycra than Mamma Mia. Not entirely my cup of tea but some of it was amusing & I liked seeing those of the cast who I recognised from other shows.
I'm not entirely surprised the transfer was cancelled, given The Other Palace was only about two thirds full this afternoon.
