Not sure why this is even being adapted for film. Jodie's astonishing performance was already captured for NT Live, nobody's bettering it so what's the point?

Agreed, completely unnecessary when it works well as a standalone piece. I'm glad Jodie is steering clear of the film adaptation. This will probably be a career defining performance for her (or one of many I'm assuming). No need to dilute by dragging it out further on film. I can imagine she wants to move on to other things as well having been tied to the production for so long.

This film adaptation is either going to be as good as Shirley Valentine (also started as a one-woman play) or a trainwreck like The Son or Dear Evan Hansen… I’m sure Jodie was offered the film role, and likely declined due to scheduled film offers. This also just fuels the rumors that she’s been cast in Fantastic Four for the MCU. I believe she's actually passed on the Fantastic Four (or she didn't get offered it in the end) and is instead going to be leading the new Blade Runner series for Ridley Scott* *edit - apparently she's walked away from BR. But also, Margot Robbie is now front-runner for FF. Maybe Jodie is gearing up for Betty Schaefer at the Savoy! If only...

Nice to see they're letting Dani have a chance to perform. Saw her last year and she was amazing!

I was hoping Carrie Hope Fletcher was doing it at the Charing Cross.

Having just seen the NT Live screening tonight, wow that something special from Jodie Comer. A real 5⭐️ tour de force performance and now I can see why she got a lot of awards for this show. A really powerful piece of writing from Suzie Miller that hit the mark for me that was backed up with a good lighting and sound design. It was emotionally draining watching that so how Jodie did that on stage 8 times a week is just amazing. I am glad that there were moments of comedy in there just to lighten the mood briefly.
