I lost all interest in watching this after he left but just thought that stopping to watch Doctor Who was part and parcel of getting old 😂
I had heard that J Michael Straczynski was interested in taking this on but I never thought that would happen but welcome back Mr. Davies.

RTD knows the lore. He loves the show and understands it. He can balance humour and drama.

How much dosh do we reckon the BBC threw at RTD before he said yes?
Julie Gardner and Jane Tranter who originally commissioned the 2005 revival are co-producing the series alongside BBC Studios via their production company Bad Wolf. They worked on His Dark Materials and Sky's A Discovery of Witches

I said recently that I thought the only way to save the show would be to get Russell T back, but I was doubtful he’d do it, I thought he was well and truly done with his doctor Who days. But he really loves the show so I guess he doesn’t want to see it go under. So excited though, feels like I’m a kid again!

I have never been happier. I have to say that the writing on the recent series has been awful and I feel so sorry for Jodie being lumbered with such bland, uninspired scripts. Davies not only understands Doctor Who, he understands how to write great drama and characters you care about.

This is the best news I’ve heard all week. After Its A Sin, I suspect RTD could have named his price and done anything he wanted- but he’s come home to Who. So very, very happy about this, and I look forward to seeing what he does with the 60th anniversary episode Yes the feeling is that he's had some 'fantastic' ideas for Who so much so that he had to return. Although it could be he's excited about the idea of an extended Doctor Who universe that has been rumoured. |

I think that this is good news. To me it was at it’s peak when RTD was overseeing Steven Moffat scribed adventures. I never really engaged with Whittakers Dr, mostly cos the BBC 1 feed went down in Lanzarote for the ‘spiders’ episode when we were on holiday and I threw a strop! 😂

I think that this is good news. To me it was at it’s peak when RTD was overseeing Steven Moffat scribed adventures. I never really engaged with Whittakers Dr, mostly cos the BBC 1 feed went down in Lanzarote for the ‘spiders’ episode when we were on holiday and I threw a strop! 😂 Well count yourself lucky because that episode had one of the worst endings of any in maybe all of Doctor Who! |

Yep, basically locked them up in a room to suffocate because the doctor apparently can now never, under any circumstances, kill a living creature even if allowing them to live means a painful existence towards a slow and agonising death! |

The downward slope in quality has put me off, but also the random broadcasts over the last few years. Make a series and show it as a series, with maybe an Xmas Special. But all the random episodes here and there have made it less of a routine event, and I just don’t care anymore.

Now the dates are actually confirmed (From Radio Times) BBC has announced that David Tennant's Fourteenth Doctor will officially be bursting back onto our screens on Saturday 25th November, with the second and third specials following on Saturday 2nd December and Saturday 9th December respectively I thought they would have done 18th November as the first episode to get them all as near the anniversary as possible. They likely cannot fit one in on 11th November as that will be the Festival of Remembrance. I wonder if William Russell will have a cameo as he was in the re-generation special last year when he reprised his role as Ian Chesterton after 57 years and looked in good nick despite his great age. He was in The Tempest with Richard Briers back in about 2003 and I was surprised to realise who he was when I got the programme. Richard popped out between shows to sign for the waiting fans and William went past without me realising. So I had to wait around for about 90 minutes in the cold before he returned. He was amazed I'd waited all that time but happily signed my programme. He was 78 years old then and I hadn't seen him on stage before in what was then about 6 years of regular theatre attendance. So I figured given his age he may not be around in another play, so it was great to see him still acting 20 years or so later. |

Incredilby happy with RTD. I do like JMS, but honestly I don't think he's a good fit for Doctor Who. A Sense8 style Torchwood though... |

Loving Ncuti Gatwa, but otherwise found the first episode a bit boring, and a bit heavy on the 'message' at times.
Will give the second episode a go though

The first episode was good fun, very silly but I can see Davies wanted to get a new audience on board.
I LOVED The Devil's Chord! Jinkx Monsoon was a great villain, camp and menacing, Ncuti and Mille are brilliant and all the musical scenes were wonderful!
