Would love someone with a better memory than me to make a spotify playlist of the concert track listing!

They only appeared digitally… all part of the magic… very clever. Benny and Bjorn were there, standing in a dance booth for the whole show. Yep, was cool watching them watching themselves

Lol if you think Stratford Westfields is big, wait until you see Shepherds Bush Westfields. When I went I managed to park in car park B level 2 right by the exit out to the restaurants so it was a nice easy 15 minute walk to the arena and back. As far as I know Westfield Stratford is bigger. It is the largest urban shopping centre on Europe.

Become a bit obsessed with looking at Twitter reactions to this show. {Spoiler - click to view}I know it’s a bit more likely to trick people as real ABBA are in town and did make an appearance onstage at the press show, but the fact that quite a lot of people who went tonight seem to believe that that is the real ABBA who come on at the curtain call rather than non-de-aged ABBAtars tells you everything you need to know about the success of the tech on display.
It also means a load of people are believing their eyes and not their brains as they appear in the same “space” as the younger ABBAtars have all evening and not in the real space onstage in front.
Regardless of what you think of the show and whether it’s a good thing for live shows and performance in general you have to admit the illusion is unbelievably well done.

Yes, of course the ABBAtars of them as they are now were different to the real ABBA on Thursday. That was not ABBA on stage last night. I could see Benny and Bjorn in a dance booth at the same time. Just wait for this afternoon when people will be posting the exact same clips of them “actually there”, and again tonight, and tomorrow…

I thought real Abba had got up on stage after the show because they were doing press photos before it started. He said the current Abba on stage at the end were also Abbatars and I laughed at him 😆. Apology coming up!

Apology coming up! Real ABBA did go on stage on Thursday, but not Friday, or presumably any other night in the future. The way to tell the difference: if Benny is wearing his kimono it’s the real ABBA, if not it’s ABBAtars. It’s a testament to the technology that people are arguing about whether they were real or not. I’d have believed they were real if I couldn’t see two of them somewhere else at the same time!

The other way you can tell it's the older ABBAtars is that Frida's hair is different now compared to a few months ago.
I'm honestly impressed that no one could tell straight away that it wasn't the real ABBA doing the bows.

If it helps most of the opening night responded in the same way to the un-aged ABBATARS before the real ABBA come on. It's a unexpected touch and quite a meaningful one as while they haven't hidden away on the voyage promotion the album had only one grainy black and white photo of them as of now and all videos are lyric or actors playing for the voyage music. It's great they do this real ABBA bow and let fans cheer the people who have brought so much to people with their music.
Great too are all the fan and media clips popping up of ABBA being interviewed on the red carpet. They must have been out there some time and there are some great replies and comments from them about ABBA and how they feel now.

If you go to Abbavoyage.com and select the merchandise page it has been updated and shows the items available. They only had few of these items on Thursday and seems most of items from the site will ship from June. But I presume all are for sale in the arena.
That jacket is £120 a ABBATARS blanket £100.
Larger range of t-shirt at £30
The receipt you get at the site has the website shopmerch.abbavoyage.com which will also get you the list.
Ordered several items from the previous official selection which did come bit later than expected but was well packed. Only issue was the poster which being card did not roll well into the tube so maybe better getting that after the show.
The black and white ABBA water bottle seems to be exclusive to the arena and at £4.50 well worth getting

The water bottle actually contains water when you buy it and has a screw top, so it's not quite like the sturdy/thick metal bottles made by Chilli's etc. The metal is a bit more like a Coke can thickness, maybe a bit sturdier. Definitely reusable but might get a bit bashed up over time.

Interestingly (for me at least) it looks like there might have been a tiny set list order swap since the previews. {Spoiler - click to view} When I saw it there was a bit of chat, then they played Thank You for the Music, then straight into Dancing Queen, then left the stage then returned to finish with The Winner Takes It All. But the NME review lists DQ first, then TYFTM and then TWTIA. If there was going to be a swap I guess that’s an easy one as the costumes are the same for both and the lighting effects use similar things. Anyone who has been yesterday/today is that the order now?

Here now
Arena much smaller than expected
Honestly think there is a good view from all areas of the dancefloor, and even from the £20 cheap seats

Yesterday the merchandise stall was chaotic, plus there is only one. This is an error on their part as most of the bars of which there are several were not very busy. By the end of the performance they had put in a queuing system for the main merch shop but not at the beginning.

5 stars
Super Trouper noticeably absent
Notes:
1) a sh*tty song to start with 2) get rid of the animated videos, nobody's there to see those

The illusion is amazing (jaw dropping), and amazingly simple - it’s not the method, it’s the exceptional level of execution that means it’s so enjoyable to give over to the magic trick. Forget everything you’ve read about holograms (or pepper’s ghost as one person on Twitter was claiming it was “known” in the industry to be the technique used). It’s at first baffling, then it dawns on you what’s going on, and then you get over your small disappointment at the simplicity because it’s so extraordinarily well done. So so so(!) well done that the fact that it’s not only not real people but also those fake people are de-aged by 40odd years doesn’t even cross your mind. The arena fabulous and is a massive part of the show and seamlessly part of the whole experience and the illusion. So is it literally just them on a screen? I can’t see how it can be anything other than that. The way they cast reflections on the “stage”, the high definition of the screen, the way lighting effects in the arena are replicated on the screen to make it appear lights are “behind them” all fool the brain into thinking they are solid.[/spolier]

I enjoy the kidology aspect of this, and while not 'live' actual performers what could be more authentically theatrical than an audience willingly giving themselves up to an illusion of something. {Spoiler - click to view} Lots of bits emerging on Twitter. It's pretty basic really, isn't it? - super high def telly in a beautifully lit room, that I'll probably see from an extreme distance due to the ££ I'd be prepared to fork out. Just like any concert watching pinheads on stage, and big screens either side. What is clever is that the side screens sometimes show side views of the stage (the ABBA members in profile, and forgeround/background to each other, blocking the clear view of eachother) in a way that of course can't happen in the real space as they're just a flat projection. All perfectly synched due to the motion capture. When the ABBA members were publicised in their ping pong ball motion capture suits, I was trying to work out what crazy advance in projection technology could make them 3D. Looks like that was all in service of the sleight of hand that leaves the core technology little changed from the Victorian era. It's all the supporting/implicating 'brain info' that encourages a belief that it's 3D. Then there's the nostalgia and enjoyment of the music and moment to infuse it too.

I’ve put some of the above post in spoilers.
Are people keen that the way it’s don’t isn’t revealed (yet) unless people proactively click a spoiler or are we not bothered?
