Yes, this thread is about the Oliviers. I was discussing potential Olivier nominations. Therefore I think said messages are entirely and completely on topic, thank you. Being 'ignorant' of racism in the theatre community is not something one should be 'thankful' for. I would imagine her actions and the response to them will be taken into consideration by those making the decisions, because they risk bad PR to let her win. Of course the Oliviers have never been the most progressive of awards, so perhaps they won't care. We'll just have to wait and see. If there was going to be any bad PR it would have happened now, instead she is getting pretty much universal raves, though personally I think she's a bit overhyped and think it is entirely possible Jessie Buckley will blow her out of the water and run away with the Best Actress statuette. People are entitled to be offended, but equally people are entitled not to demand she is completely cancelled. Everyone can make their own decision on that and people across the spectrum of ethnicities and creeds have done that judging by the diversity of the audience when I saw Anything Goes.

Frozen may be beautiful looking but that car in BTTF is something else. Not sure I agree. The set for BTTF is rather flat and dull, with the sole exception of the car. Frozen has the full package and is downright gorgeous.

Moulin will win them all.

Do we have any front runners for the lead acting awards in plays?

Geoffrey Streatfield is brilliant in Blithe, deserves best supporting actor.

I agree with Patsy Ferran, but I hope Lisa Dwan and Rosie Sheehy are nominated too.

After seeing the first performance of a Normal Heart, Then Ben Daniels who only leaves the stage for the interval would be a good shout for best actor and Liz Carr certainly a strong contender for best supporting.

I wish the Oliviers would pick a venue other than the RAH.

Can someone confirm whether the Oliviers are only for London based shows, not touring or regional productions?

Can someone confirm whether the Oliviers are only for London based shows, not touring or regional productions? London only - they're organised by SOLT (Society of London Theatre).

What do you think the future holds? I hope they do six nominees per category (like with the WOS Awards this year) and perhaps make the eligibility flexible given the situation of postponed performances.

I think it's time for an awards that are for touring and regional theatre, I know a few awards do encompass them such as the WOS Awards and UK Theatre Awards but they seem a bit limited. What we need I think is an awards on the same scale as the oliviers specifically for regional and touring shows, that includes all the technical and creative awards as well. It's a shame that the great work we see on regional stages isn't really rewarded in the same way as London shows are.

I wish the Oliviers would pick a venue other than the RAH. Totally agree. It's one of my favourite concert venues but it's totally wrong for the Oliviers. It always looks so sparse and just... un-theatrical, somehow...

Is there no-one more 'highbrow' available to host? I get Manford has the household appeal for the huns and mums ratings but the few I've seen him host he appears a bit out of place, lost and the jokes never really seem to land.
