Any word of if they're doing a cast recording for this? Or if we'll get a cast recording from the concert?

Saw the evening performance last night. Initially disappointed not to get Jordan but Barney is absolutely brilliant, completely owning it and I suspect he's probably more believable as a rough bad boy than Jordan 😁
Frances is also brilliant, she's come on so far since the concert just 4 short months ago. She sounds divine in her two big solos and duet.
I had said I wouldn't revisit the show after the Drury Lane concert but I'm very glad I did, and would recommend others to do the same. And don't hesitate in booking while Barney is on for Jordan, he's fantastic.

I'm not too sure Barney gives off those bad boy vibes -

I’ve only ‘heard’ Barney’s Strat in ‘Bat’, and he sounded great and certainly a match for Jordan (who has a more legit pop MT sound) rather than Barneys slightly darker tone. We have a matinee slot before Queen in a few weeks and this is making its way up my list.

I saw the Saturday matinee. I’d only ever heard 1 song in rehearsal so went in totally open and new. I really liked it! Act 1 is definitely a lot better/stronger than 2 though.
I saw Barney as Clyde, he was incredible, and totally convincing of a criminal/outlaw.
I do feel like the Blanche/Buck relationship/storyline was a bit boring and repetitive though. Every scene they have together is just the same conversation over and over.
I’ll deffo go again, and I wanna see Jordan as Clyde for comparison. I do think the songs are memorable though and make the show what it is.

Saw Barney this weekend also, having already seen Jordan. I thought he was excellent, incredible voice. I'd say he has less charm than Jordan, he's heavy on the angry criminal from the beginning, you warm to Jordan's Clyde straight away but Barney's a more convincing criminal. I don't actually know who I preferred, whoever you see you are in for a treat. Charlie was on as understudy Buck (his first?) and was also very good.

That's a shame, hope all is okay. Interesting that the evening is still going ahead - problems with the theatre, or cast and they're madly rehearsing someone in?

It must have been last minute cast rehearsals - Barney made his debut as Buck last night. He's second cover and as far as I'm aware they haven't had second cover rehearsals yet, so a week after making his midshow Clyde debut he's now played his second cover. It's been quite the chaotic week down at the Arts.

I saw this tonight and just adored it. I saw it a number of times in its original Broadway run and never understood why it didn’t catch on, so I’m very happy that it seems to have found a new life over here. The cast is pitch perfect and Natalie continues to amaze me. Her southern accent is as perfect as it can get (she obviously perfected it for 9to5) and her comic timing is equally as brilliant. Overall, I just can’t say enough good things about this one.

Reading about an incident tonight in which a heavy prop (a safe) FELL on to an audience member in the front row and the show had to be stopped. Hope they are ok.

Loved loved loved this. Cast vocals and performances brilliant. Unexpectedly moved even though we knew the end. Natalie McQueen had a great voice but edging a little bit towards the OTT for me. Frances and Jordan and George really strong. Hate to be picky as we had a great night out but just what were those wigs. Ratty. Every single one. Time for some new ones maybe?

I loved the cast and the music. Jordan and Frances were phenomenal but Natalie McQueen just stole the show for me, her Blanche was amazing. And yet I still get the feeling there were some questionable choices made. {Spoiler - click to view} The openning song "Pictureshow" has been shortened with a few scenes within the song cut, particularly one where Bonnie attends her father's funeral which made the sudden change in the song's tone make more sense (why it was cut is beyond me). There's a new duet between Ted and Bonnie that uses the melody from the cut song "This never happened before" from Broadway, but I just hate this song. I could barely understand what they were even singing about, terrible sound in the venue I guess. Something to do with ice-cream I think?? I understand that they were trying to show the characters as being closer but it just felt so out of place and it just isn't a good song, surely they could have come up with better lyrics? The staging for "This World Will Remember Us" really isn't great, the Broadway production did it much better. Throwing random teared up pieces of paper made no sense to me.

I kind of want to see this but I’m just not that enthusiastic about it for some reason. How come the reviews are so sniffy about it?
I like a musical that moves me as well as one that has good songs. Should I go for it?

Should I go for it? Yes! I'm not familiar with the Broadway production but I went into this one cold and absolutely fell in love with it. Beautiful performances all round, and some lovely songs in there. I've been a couple of times now and it always got a very strong reception from the audiences.
