Liked some of the songs, some nice performances, overall liked Galavant much better. That should have had more seasons, this one doesn't imo.

The only thing stopping this from being a real breakout hit is the lack of MT knowledge in the broader audience. It is fab if you can spot all the Golden Era parodies. But if your love of musicals started with Wicked and now extends as far as Six, then this will feel utterly alien to you. I loved it and binged it in one session but it only really works if you know the shows that inspired it. I am sure they will want to build on it with a second season. But it will feel forced. Musical sequels rarely thrive. Let it be this quirky curio that is loved by those that get it. Agree Loved this But now hungry for more mainstream musical content

Looking forward to this. The first season had it’s flaws but it was always good fun and very watchable. If the trailer’s anything to go by I should get more of the references this time around too.
Don’t tease Aaron Tveit going all ‘Hair’ though, we all know that ain’t going to happen.

Loved the first series mainly for being an excellent showcase for Cecily Strong and Keegan-Michael Key, both of whom are reliably great in everything they ever do. That trailer was fantastic; looks like great fun and what a cast they've put together!

First 2 episodes released today and they’re fantastic. Definitely feels like a huge step up from the first season.

Agreed - the script feels so much sharper and the song parodies are very astute. The Sally Bowles character is simply divine, darling, and I spotted musical nods to Chicago, Cabaret, Sweeney Todd, A Chorus Line and many more. Liked the first series, but the first two episodes of this series engaging me much more. Really hoping they get a third series covering the big musicals drawing on the Rice/Lloyd-Webber era...

It took me ages to find these, as I kept searching for "Schmicago" and then thinking they hadn't been released yet when nothing came up. But they're listed under "Schmigadoon", where the previous episodes are.
I agree with the others - I'm getting a lot more of the references in this series so far (I loved the "Kaput" song) and it seems there's more of a solid storyline. Looking forward to the rest.

It’s bloody brilliant!
So what will the next season be called? Best I can do is “Schmiss Saigon” but it needs to be a place name. “Schmunset Boulevard”? 🤣

So glad this got a second season, it really is a massive step up. The references are brilliant and it's much more accessible with a wider appeal. Great to see Jane Krakowski featured more as well.
Very much hope they get an "80s mega-musical" third season 🤞

Another great episode this week - the Cummng/Chenowith number was a joy.
For the last series Apple released the songs from the show with each episode, can't find them yet on Apple Music for this series, I hope they will be released at the end of the series.

If there's a third season around 80s musicals, I would like to warmly invite you....Schmanadu 🤣🤣

Is it only me or is the second season stuffed fuller of the songs than the first season?
For the last two episodes I've caught myself thinking "oh god, not another song" a few times, which I can't remember from the first season, but I don't know if it's true or my ancient brain remembering differently.
And I may be the only one, but I preferred the Schmigadoon setting and the juxtaposition of the over-the-top cuteness and wide-eyed innocence of the Golden Age characters with the modern attitudes of Josh and Melissa (especially Josh's cynicism towards everything musical).

I thought the finale was a little disappointing, but still I think a stronger series than the first - my criticism of season 1 was that it wasn't quite sharp enough, but this I thought was as sharp as Dooley Blight's cleaver. Hope there is a Season 3!
(And, as promised above, the entire soundtrack has just dropped on Apple Music)

I enjoyed this season a lot more than the first, I suppose partly because I got more of the references, but I think it helped that Josh and Melissa were a much more engaging couple this time around too. I like how they mostly just went with it this time, rather than continually being used to comment on the old-fashioned attitudes of the rest of the characters.

Just watched both seasons, the song parodies are very clever and well done but overall take that away and there's not much there. Season 2 started strong but lost what little plot there was half way through. Feels more like one idea stretched thin over 6 episodes. Great cast and its the first time ive actually enjoyed Aaron Tveit in anything.
That said I hope for an 80s/90s themed season to see what they do with it. Maybe set in a historic/fantasy style world.
Into the Schwoods?
Especially with the nods to not being able to have children. Maybe they'll be the Baker and his wife equivalent.

No Series 3 (for the time being at least) - would be great to hear the songs though...

Shame, especially as it’s all written. Thought it got stronger in the second season. Must cost a fraction of stuff like Masters of the Air or For All Mankind.
