It's such an unfortunate week for Craig to be out because he is the musical theatre leaning judge on the panel and so always think it's kind of his week really. Oh well. Yep, really missed. He wouldn’t have allowed Dan to get another high score.

Totally agree, rather a let down for musicals week. If this week has demonstrated anything it's how much Craig is needed on the panel.
Rylan had both Sarah Brightman and choreographer Kevin Adamns (from Fame Academy) on the It takes Two Friday panel, and they were enthusiastic, critical and encouraging about all the contestants. Wonder why they weren't ask to fill in for Craig.

I can only assume the judges saw a difference dance by Tilly than the one we just watched. It was rubbish, right?

I quite liked her — guest judges never want to rock the boat.

I didn’t like that opening Cabaret number. I thought it looked odd. I don’t know what dance it was based on but it didn’t go with the music at all and it all looked a bit “off”.

I thought the same thing. I used to love the strictly pro routines, but now they leave me cold. Don't know if it's the production or the choreography, or, and I hate to say it, the the lack of experience in other dance styles from the pros. Don't get me wrong they are phenomenal Latin and Ballroom dancers, but when they are faced with a hiphop/contemporary/michael Jacksonesque/ musical theatre style they never seem as cohesive as group as when they do a mostly ballroom or Latin centric number, like they used to do years ago. I'm being overly harsh (and cantankerous) these dancers are working hard through a pandemic to put on a show for the public but I watch Dancing with the Stars and tend to compare the group numbers, which are always so slick.

They were aiming for Fosse but it didn't come together. They had a strong theatre choreographer but the tone wasn't right.
It was too glitzy. Too shiny.
It didn't evoke a rundown cabaret club in any meaningful sense.
Plus the vocals were awful

Last nights show.
Cynthia- there's no denying she a talent (I've heard her singing 'I Can Do Better than That' from The Last 5 Years at a Jason Robert Brown concert where she received an unbelievable 4 standing ovations) and she clearly has experience with 'performance' but what the f**k does show know about the technique of dance?
Isn't a nose ring one of the most awful accessories?
Motsi's hair-OMG! At one point I actually thought it was a stole around her shoulders!

The Cynthia person has a big spread in Harpers Bazaar this month so maybe she is having a media push at the moment and appearing on Strictly part of that.

I don't know why they don't do proper ballroom/Latin group numbers now. I'd prefer them! And it shows how the celebs' dances could look.

Rhys was not in sync with Nancy again during that dance off. I don't understand why they thought he was worth saving. He hasn't listened to the critiques to be more controlled and precise in his movements. His time should have been up.

He's a better dancer overall than Tom, and at this stage of the competition that should matter

In every dance Rhys seems to be totally manic as if he has just eaten 3 bags of Haribo.

He's a better dancer overall than Tom, and at this stage of the competition that should matter I'd dispute the word 'overall'. He is a better dancer at the dances he does well. There's been little variation in his dances - mostly upbeat and little slow and elegant. I have to say that I don't think Nancy gave a very good performance this week. But I think it doesn't matter whether it's Tom this week and Rhys next week or vice versa. Dan clearly isn't going anywhere yet - actually this was the first week where I felt he could actually be a decent dancer.

Nancy needs to learn how to rein that in

Is it just meme but did anyone else notice that the VT's are getting just little bit longer? As are Claudia's interviews once the dance is done?
I appreciate that each week another couple leave and they have a certain amount of time to fill.
Just a lilt aside- in the opening VT where Kai and AJ were on the hill )(aka The Sound of music), that's Primrose Hill in Nth London, one of the highest points where you can overlook the zoo and the London skyline.
They film there all the time.
It's about a 20 minute walk from where I live.

I also felt the 'Cabaret' number was just...strange. You could see they were going for Fosse, but it just wasn't *sharp* enough for that. However, I did think the 'Cabaret' number was better than the 'Wicked' one "on Sunday night". Jason Gilkison was on ITT last week, and he said they'd had to put that together in 2 days - and, to be frank, I felt it very much looked like it. There didn't seem to be any clarity to the dance as a whole, and it felt like an excuse to fly Katya for no reason other than that, specifically, looking cool...

Dan is doing the Rumba in Saturday...
If that doesn't land him in the dance off nothing will

Dan is doing the Rumba in Saturday... If that doesn't land him in the dance off nothing will To Desperado by the Eagles which is the least rumba like song I can imagine. Should be a laugh anyway. Mind you Rhys is waltzing to You Light Up My Life. Is it 70s week?
