MAD has taken its final bow - the Make A Difference Trust is lowering the curtain. The charity behind West End Eurovision, Bares and the Christmas Concert is ceasing to operate.
A real shame - but I do understand that they don't feel able to fundraise for the foreseeable future.
Let's hope that something rises out of the ashes - we need crazy events like these are part of our theatrical lives - and in such a great cause.

Just had an e mail from them with news of them closing.
One of my theatre highlights every year was Westend Eurovision which I absolutely loved and have great memories such as Michael Ball and Imelda Staunton appearing and the cast of BOM performing "ding a dong".
In the early years the show was put on at 11.30pm on a Thursday night after the casts has finished their own shows. This lead to great fun both on stage and in the audience where people had had a drink or two before. I used to go to the aftershow party so that I could get the first tube back in the morning.
Oh the days when I could stay up all night!

I could howl. HOWL! I've loved their shows, the West End Eurovision I was talking about only last week. Les Mis doing Flying The Flag (was that the same night as Sweeney Todd doing One Step Out of Time? - I watch the YouTube probably once a month to cheer myself up). The surprise stars popping up, and I will never forget the Early Morning Jews (Once - and yes I've just looked it up on YouTube and it's still bloody funny) ... And their Christmas shows were always so lovely. A proper, proper loss. I really hope it's resurrected in some way.
