Another run would be great for all involved I'm sure, but I don't think a tour would work for a play that is so London-centric. Maybe it would play well somewhere like Manchester, with a firmly established LGBT district, but in most other stops on the tour it might not draw much attention. |

I noticed from its Twitter account that it had a run in South Africa, with a different actor a few months ago. I'm guessing because Jack Holden is in these images he's playing the role in Manchester.

Loved this tonight in Manchester! What a performance with astonishing bursts of energy throughout!
As for the audience, I’m not sure if some thought they were watching the telly. Drifting in and out of the auditorium. Such disrespect. One or two people desperate for the toilet… okay… but there was a constant stream of people in and out. Why?!

A brilliant performance tonight. I loved it even more than the first time I saw it in London. It's an incredible performance from Jack Holden, how he is able to conjure up so many different characters and situations.
Had some restless audience members too and one who left after about 20 minutes.

Saw it at home tonight I enjoyed it just as much as I did in London a great fit into the theatre 🎭
I got same vibes as others have said…. is it millennials just don’t have attention span or weak bladders ?? Or both
Appeared stalls were transfixed no one moved I was in the circle and 40 mins in it started at least 5-6 people drifting in and out or checking phones very distracting , must be for Jack too as each time dour opens light shines in and door slowly closes no curtain over it either .
A full immediate standing ovation 👏 and huge cheers and applause so well deserved

I'm buzzing, reflecting and shedding a tear thinking about it, all at once.

Five stars.
One act: 20:04-21:43
Seems to be 10 minutes longer than London. An interval would have worked I think.

I’m of the age where I lived through the latter end of it and like a Time Machine he takes you back … the live music really brings it to full HD experience it really is one the best pieces of theatre I’ve seen in many years … all people under the age of 30 need to see this x hope this isn’t the end of cruise |

Well, that was so worth rescheduling my cancelled show last weekend to today’s matinee. A wonderful 100 minutes watching Jack Holden’s play. A really strong and powerful piece of writing and performance from Jack that can make you laugh out loud one minute and break your heart the next as he brings all the different characters to life. The energy he brings to the stage is amazing and keeps you fully engaged with the plot. Jack is a decent singer as well.
Jack’s mesmerising performance is matched by a really vibrant 80’s dance floor soundtrack courtesy of John Patrick Elliott that helps provide that extra emotional layer to Jack’s performance whether in the clubs of Soho or the more tug at the heart strings moments. Also the vibrant neon lighting and the other lighting designs from Prema Mehta really help set the Soho scenes.
I’ve got no problem giving this a 5⭐️ rating and a SO at the end. For £12, brilliant afternoon at HOME MCR.

I somehow missed all the hype about this when it was on in London, albeit I vaguely recall the poster.
I didn't therefore have any plans to see it in Manchester. I only ended up booking as we were in Manchester for the Kusama exhibition and thought I'd see if anything was on.
So so pleased I did. I thought it was brilliant and echo all the positive comments on here. Very rarely there seems to be few if any negative things said about it on here!
I don't know how Jack Holden does it straight through for 1 hour 40 mins without hardly taking a breath. A fantastic performance and he will no doubt go on to other great things.
Definitely recommend catching it if you can!

I agree with the plaudits. To add to my brief opinion, what I thought was just as impressive as Jack’s performance was the accuracy of his portrayal of an era before he was even born. I don’t know how he researched it or who he spoke to but it was spot on. There were several murmurs and laughs of recognition from the late middle-aged male contingent in the audience at certain bits of dialogue. He really evoked that moment in time, the good and the bad. |

I meant to watch this when it was streaming but never got around to it, and didn’t have any trips planned during the London runs, but today, finally, I managed to see it. And it was absolutely worth the wait. What a performance. Well-deserved standing ovation.
First time seeing something at Home too, which was also long overdue.
