Shaun will be spilling the beans later :-) while Baz will be sulking in his boudoir Lol I'll wait till Baz (who I think) will drop the news, I've been told the announcement is due tomorrow? So lines up with a Baz announcement x

Seeing Cher at the O2 was one of the last concerts I went to, I don't envy whoever has to belt out those tunes! That said, I am looking forward to seeing it, I'll book Southampton. My first show for 2023!

I saw this on Broadway. Not the best show, but the music was of course brilliant and Stephanie J. Block's performance as the "main" Cher just about held it all together and gave it some credibility. It's going to be a very hard role to cast, because it's so easy to make that version of Cher a caricature and not perform her as a one dimensional impression with hair tossing and catchphrase shouting.
Given it's touring I'm a bit concerned this version will be targeted directly at the "stand up in the aisles and sing karaoke" mob, losing what little depth and subtlety it originally had and becoming Thriller with Cher songs. I hope I'm wrong.

Is it still going to the West End before touring?

Surely it'll be just some feel-good entertainment than a bio-musical?

Surely it'll be just some feel-good entertainment than a bio-musical? Only if they completely re-write it. The Cher Show as conceived on Broadway was a narrative, conceptual, biographical musical. 3 actresses shared the part of Cher - each playing her at a different age, with the "current" Cher (Stephanie J. Block) narrating the whole thing.

Oh. I was rather hoping for a bit of camp old nonsense with lots of neighing, hair tossing and maybe even a “shnap out of it” slap.

Whoever plays Cher in this should record a duet with the real Cher. They could release it under the name 'Cher and Cher Alike'.

I can understand £50 for the West End, but for the provincials fifty quid is a hell of an ask for a touring show.

I can understand £50 for the West End, but for the provincials fifty quid is a hell of an ask for a touring show. London is generally pricing at £100 now, so regionals will undoubtedly increase to keep up with it. Not a surprise really, the last Les Mis and Wicked tours were c£60 at ATG venues.

I've booked for Brighton, mind you, it's Nov22, I don't think I even booked Hamilton so far in advance!

I can understand £50 for the West End, but for the provincials fifty quid is a hell of an ask for a touring show. The prices have shot up in recent years so that’s about standard now. At the ATG-owned Liverpool Empire seats that I paid about £30 for five years ago are now priced at around £50-55. And there’s premium price bands above that!

I loved this show on Broadway. The only problem was that Cher’s life isn’t THAT dramatic
