Rhydian works with artists now. He seems to be doing very well. He is the agent for Lee Mead, Samantha Barks and Ramin. He also has a label releasing albums. He's doing the new Kerry Ellis one along others. www.westwaymusic.com/about-1

I need seating advice. Buying tickets for a friend’s birthday. Got a £100 per ticket budget.
Do I go Dress Circle Row E central or Row K seats 3-4? Both are Green on Theatremonkey’s map but unsure which would be better? Also - why are just those seats green in Row K? Stalls Row H at the side are another option but I believe I’ve read that Dress Circle is better at that price point?
Thanks in advance.

Depends on whether you want to be a bit closer to the stage (row K) or a bit further away but with a more central view (row E).

We couldn't see either balcony/band or Sally's first appearance from stalls H, everything on stage was absolutely fine though.

Difficult if you need to buy the tickets now, but I would be tempted to wait and see if dynamic prices or other offers kick in. As much as I'm sure the new cast are fabulous, I can't imagine ticket sales will be as hot as they were.

I didnt know Rhydian was still around. Hope he still doesnt dye his hair white.. its like Limahl still sporting that same style from the 80s.not good. Limahl hardly seemed to have aged when I saw an article about him last year. I guess it was his trademark.

What's wrong with him dyeing his hair white? If it makes him happy, it isn't hurting anyone is it?

Just got out of the matinee today and it appears that the revolve is broken so they slightly restaged a few moments to accommodate, wasn’t noticeable unless you’ve seen it before.

I was there yesterday matinee and did think it strange that the revolve never revolved (though the lift was (over)used). It was well covered though. Could someone explain when the revolve is meant to be used? I'm curious as to what I missed. As for the production, it was okay - I love the piece, but I felt this was too stylised and not dark enough. I much preferred the Norris production. Wasn't a fan of the direction of the title song - way too shouty. Vivien Parry excellent as Fraulein Schneider, as was Omar Baroud as Cliff. Fra Fee's accent was a bit all over the place, though his I Don't Care Much was beautiful. Free drinks still being offered. £15 for a programme/brochure is outrageous. Didn't see many people buy one yesterday.

The programme pricing is another example (alongside the tickets!) where the producers are following a pop concert’s pricing approach rather than theatre. £15 for a programme is fairly average for a concert (in fact £20/25 isn’t uncommon) so they’ve copied that tactic with the sizing and the glossy photos. It does feel more of a souvenir than the £4/5 ones most theatres offer, but for three times the price you’d expect it to be!

The articles had no insight and in most cases were rehashed versions of pieces that had already been written rather than commissioned. Not enough photos of the production either for a thing that size either.

Sam Fender is touring arenas at the moment and the tickets are all around thirty five pounds including all fees. He is definitely in the minority, however.

Don't most shows offer a programme that's around £5 with song list, cast list etc, then a more expensive 'brochure' with photos? Sounds like they have just skipped the programme. When I went in previews they were giving out a free cast list which folded out to an A3 poster thing which I was more than happy with.

With an artist like Sam he might be looking to establish himself as an arena level act so might have the idea to price it cheaper it gets more in. When we used to see a lot more Arena shows adverised in the local press and you could see ticket prices on the same page it was interesting to note the difference between some artists pricewise. Those newer to an arena level shown were often a few pounds cheaper ( this is going back 30 odd years). Also Arenas cost more to hire so despite having bigger crowds tickets can still be as high as in a larger concert hall. Whilst my logic is I'd be happier to pay a higher price for say Symphony Hall B'ham than NEC or NIA as it is a more intimate venue and you get better view.

You might not see the big commercial pop stars in their glossy arena tours for under £50, but lots of perfectly successful bands manage to make a living from that kind of pricing.

I saw Melanie C in concert only last month and her ticket were £35. Same with Jessie Ware. It's only artists performing at Arena level upwards that command tickets in the £75+ range...

It was a pretty no frills affair though. Just 6? musicians with relatively basic stage & lighting. If they are touring in support of a recent album (as a means to promote it) tickets tend to be more reasonably priced. If they are an evil money grabbing filthy pig dog beast like Master H Styles esq, they use Covid as an excuse to ditch their arena tour (ace front row, front upper block seats £55) and replace it with a couple of stadium shows (further away from my house, crappy half way back, middling seats £75)…and I bet its still hard to make a penny from it. Stuff has gone up, fuel has gone up, he has a big band and crew to put up.

He is currently playing arenas which makes it all the more refreshing. You could pay thirty pound and be at the very front. For many arena gigs now to be at the front you'd need to buy a ridiculously over priced vip package.

Well this thread has taken a very different direction now there's no Jessie to moan about! The moaning about Jessie has moved to the Oliver 22 Prince Edward thread. #cancelled This show is old hat now, in fairness. The stars have done their contracts, the prices remain(!). Imagine paying £250 for two people you've never heard of compared to two Oscar nominated actors who are hot property in 2022!!??. Nobody in their right mind would be booking at this stage at those prices. Cheaper seats now? Brilliant! Guess why? Because THE STARS ARE GONE. This is the home stretch, without an astounding casting coup. I wonder if Cumming would do it for the right fee? This thread will drift over the next few months talking exclusively about ticket prices, then the show will be gone within 18 months. As will all of the paid shills.
