I went yesterday and utterly loved it.

I managed to pick up a £25 ticket on Sunday for last night and I *loved* it. I've never seen Cabaret before, not even the film and wasn't even really familiar with the plot but this far exceeded my expectations. One of the best things I've seen. So dark and upsetting.
With nothing to compare it t,o the casting and performances seemed perfect. It took me a long time to realise that Anna Jane Casey was there and she was absolutely first class. I haven't had a night at the theatre like this in a long time, where I go in with zero expectations or knowledge and am completely enchanted from the first minute. Without a doubt, 5 stars for me.

I love that Anna Jane Casey is also in the ensemble dance sections as well as her character scenes - she is definitely a class act!

Anna Jane Casey still having that level of flexibility is amazing, she’s such a complete dancer, I’m a few years younger and struggle to put on my socks.

I've just googled her to see how old she is. 49. She is in great nick. Probably lugging all those parcels around during lockdown also helped. Was watching her on the JW Proms last night and she would be great in Anything Goes. Triple threat and also a lovely, lovely lady. I have a lot of time and respect for her.

I loved the MCs little party hat. It reminded me Julia McKenzies little black witches hat, worn at a jaunty angle in the original ITW.
I couldnt propely see from the very back row, but Liza Sadovy (also in the original ITW) looked too young to be Frauline Schnieder.
It will be interesting to read the reviews. I think it will be a love it or loathe it situation.

Her Reno would be an absolute blast! Get her in the tour asap!!!

Only people I've heard from who didn't like it, belive that 'Cabaret' should the jaunty tune of the movie, and I would hope that reviewers have a bit more perspective on that.

That is one ugly bunch of costumes. Did they have a job lot of vomit colored dye?

Wow. Either Anna Jane Casey is displaying a wonderful lack of vanity or they’ve released that photo without her approval.

I like the look of Jessie’s costume and teeny tiny hat on Emcee, but the rest are giving me charity shop bleurghh.

Gosh there's a fair amount of snobbery going on in this thread! Nothing wrong with charity shops!
And not sure what you were all expecting people in 1930s Berlin to actually be wearing...

Love a charity shop. But these costumes aren’t very inspiring. Will reserve full judgement for when I see the show

Hal Prince didn't quite like the Ensemble costumes for Evita (1978), so sent the cast out to charity shops for alternatives. I'm out of fun facts now.

The mostly bland costumes fading in to the background means the interesting ones stand out more, the green fur coat, Emcee’s money costume, the nazi armband.

I went to Wicked last night and the Cabaret branding was all over the doors at the entrance of the Apollo Victoria saying willkommen and with the Kit Kat club logo. Does anyone know why that would be?

I was surprised to see that this is eligible for WOS awards as it was still in previews for the voting period. They were literally still working in the show yet it was still eligible……weird…

It’s not like it has minimum number of performances like the Oliviers.

Moulin Rouge isn’t recasting. That’s just wishful thinking. Half the cast have Covid and are recovering.
