Also Cabaret is one of the hardest iconic musical films to find a decent copy to watch. I have two DVD versions both kf which put the film in a horrible window box format with bars on all four sides - both of them are 4:3 letterbox versions which just looks awful. I can’t find a real widescreen version ( it was made 1.85.1 so should have virtually no black bars on a widescreen Tv) in the UK and the Blu-ray was only released in the USA. And it’s not on any streaming platforms in the UK as far as I can see. The usa blu ray is region free so will play on a uk player if imported...

There is actually a really easy way of doing it, like they do at some film previews/screenings. You give every ticket holder a metallic type bag (you can't see or film through it) which you seal up as you go in. You keep your phone on you, but can't use it. Of course there will always be people who will try and work round it, but it definitely works. I imagine film previews are mostly attended by people that they can trust through. Are you Jacob Rees-Mogg?!

The no photos thing won’t be enforced either (if it’s even true) and if they try to do that when they’re not enforcing the mask wearing then it’s a disgrace. I take it all with a huge pinch of salt. ATG don’t even do anything when drunks are shouting at actors and having full on fights in the stalls so stopping someone taking a piccy inside the theatre seems highly unlikely and probably beyond them.

To be honest I fully expected there to be a no photo rule. As this is immersive theatre they want the experience to be a surprise to everyone going and don't want social media to be full of photos of the club/theatre. And as the performance starts the minute you walk into the venue its no different to every other theatre saying before the show starts that photography is not permitted.
On another note does anyone who went last night know about programmes and merch on sale?

The photo rule was for previews , the director spoke before the show asking that what happens in the club stays in the club. This is a newly imaginative production that doesn’t rely on sets. Eddie’s emcee is as far from any other production, his entrance for Money was jaw dropping. That costume was and is spectacular.

Nothing for sale last night , the temp program was a folded poster with song list , cast production on one side . Poster on the other.
No spoilers , but one song ( not cabaret ) is so iconic, that it was a little underwhelming last night, Jessie did the best but if I was to nitpick I would change that.

He was very emotional at the end during the bows and bust into tears

I imagine the programme must be waiting till they can take photos for it then.

I hope there is a programme soon especially as previews are for nearly a month so that's a lot of lost revenue. Most new shows have a programme with rehearsal photos and then once opened have a new one with production photos.

Could someone show the songlist? I'm intrigued to know what has been added or cut for this production

All the reports of audience participation/interaction got me thinking. Its odd in a way that theatre doesn't come with a warning for things like this before booking (unless cabaret have done). Considering there are warnings for so many things in life now, unexpected integration can really trigger anxiety

Surely if someone bought the tables 'in the club' they should have expected it. I deliberately didn't buy them because of that, as well as the price of them.
Audience participation is my idea of a nightmare. Memories of the promenade production of Sweeney Todd at the Bridewell in 2000 still brings me out in cold sweats.

The most that happened was the phones calls at the start , and they got some people dancing. The ensemble wander around , talking at the start as the theatre opened, playing some instruments. Nothing that would place the fear of Jebus into any one

Long time reader but a very infrequent poster here!
I was there last night, in the lottery seats from TodayTix. We didn't know our seat allocation until arrival but it turned out we were on one of the stalls tables. I'm not sure if this is where they're allocated each time but it's well worth entering regardless.
I don't want to spoil for others waiting to go as it really is one of those things I'm glad I didn't know too much about production-wise beforehand but I will say it's brilliant in every way.
A big shout out to the FOH team for keeping everything running smoothly too!

Just had a further e mail from ATG with another reminder about the tests so no one can say they haven't been warned. But this e mail also says:
Upon arrival, you will be encouraged to cover up the cameras on your phone. This is an experience for your eyes only. Keep it in the Kit Kat Club.
I'll bring some gaffer tape then!

Arent the the tables for diners? Was there a whiff of gravy in the air? Seemed to be a mix of diners and non-diners! No gravy whiffs noted from my seat. In fact, I didn't notice a huge amount of eating going on at all. Something was brought to a few tables at the interval which I assumed was part of the dining experience.

Not sure I really want sticker glue stuck to the lenses of the camera on my £1200 phone!

Lol. Yeah…I don’t think they can enforce putting a sticker on your phone like that. A fun gimmick but that’s not gonna happen.

I have to say the Kit Kat club sticker was more of a little joke 'please don't take any photos, here's a sticker to cover your camera if you want in case you get tempted ', but is actually more of a nice souvenir. I sat in the upper circle last night, row D, and whilst it's the back row of the top section the sight lines are actually unobstructed thanks to the re-design of the theatre, even going up to the upper circle. So for the cheap price up there I think it's well worth it, and I rarely sit outside the front stalls. The whole experience of entering through the basement, receiving your drink token to redeem at the bar was amazing. Very immersive, very well done. The main bit of audience participation I witnessed was during the interval getting a few (willing) volunteers up on the stage, but after one woman fell flat on her face getting down from the stage I wonder if that'll continue to the same extent. Overall I enjoyed the whole show, some bits real standouts and some fell a bit flat, but it was a great show all-in-all.
