Going from someone who's 23 (Rhea Norwood) to someone who's 51/53 is a bit wild but I'm intrigued. How old should Sally Bowles be? I've always assumed around 30-35.

Rhea, Aimee, Katherine, Maude have felt/looked way too young but Bev would be too old and more appropriate to play Schneider (although I assume the whole post is a wonderful troll and there's no truth to it).

I've heard Bonnie Langford will be doing Fraulein Schneider, and in an ambitious directing decision will be performing constantly in the splits, atmosphere and immersion be damned.

Would watch (tbh she'd actually not be 100 miles of the mark for Kost in this production like AJ was in the original cast)

Charlie Stemp is an interesting idea for MC... Claire Sweeny is 53 (I am sure she is great but the pregnancy storyline might be a stretch)

Some great deals on TKTS for this - £58 for row C on the tables, never seen them this cheap before. Also saw Dress Circle row B for only £33! Thanks for this, I checked ATG too and got two in Dress Circle F next week for £33 each, which is a steal compared to the £100+ they often are and should be significantly better seats than anything in the Upper Circle which I thought would be my only option. I really wanted to see this back in 2021/22 when Redmayne and Buckley were in it, especially after seeing the Olivier performances, but I got fed up of only seeing tickets for three figure sums all the time - finally I’m getting my Kit Kat break!!

Strong rumours next cast change is Charlie Stemp as MC and Beverley Knight or Claire Sweney as SB. Either was - brilliant very different from Billy Porter! not sure about the Sallys though... both too old imo if this is not a wind up

Charlie is a shoe in obviously. I’d expect a tv name again - Eastenders ‘star’ was also spoken about (but have no idea who would be able to do that from ‘Stenders)?

Another reason I've been put off seeing this. Too young casting of Sally and not experienced in (musical) theatre to carry such a role

Jean Ross was 19 when she met Isherwood in real life so I always assumed Sally Bowles to be in her 20's, and her general "nothing wrong" and naive attitude towards the show's events doubly made me think that, someone who hasn't really grown up yet. I think the point is she's a bit young for all this, like with the whole "Don't Tell Mama" number especially amplified in the new revival with it being kind of creepy with her in the baby costume.
Jill Haworth was 21 when she did Cabaret. Judi was about 35 though when she did it first in London.

Without sounding like a ‘state the bleeding obvious’ type of girl - it’s not real. They aren’t real people.
The idea of musical theatre is to suspend reality a bit - people singing at random times? Animals singing (the Lion King obviously not Kit Kat Club) - you get the picture.

Natasha Richardson - one of the definitive Sally's - was 35, and Anna Maxwell Martin was 29 when the Rufus Norris version originated. So it had crept a bit more towards 30ish prior to this Frecknall version.

Saw the new two leads, thought they were brilliant! The Emcee gives the strongest performance I've seen since Mason.
Katherine as Sally plays it in a very different way than others- she comes across as a regular person rather than the Sally Bowles we all know. I thought she was fantastic and will only get stronger in the run.
Cliff on the other hand, god awful.

I agree about Adam, for me he's the strongest we've had since Redmayne (and Matt Gent) as I found Mason unbearable.

Why do they keep casting terrible Cliffs? Every time I’ve seen it- they have been awful.

Surely that has to be a pi*s take?! I’d say they’ve been pretty shrewd with casting this show so far- and have always erred on the younger side for both lead roles.
