I think Callum will be great but I'd actually love to see him as Cliff.

It does appear Cabaret eludes the normal people who know things (me included) - but that likely to be because the casting gets confirmed so last minute.
Under the impression these two weren't confirmed until last week.

Emily Benjamin alternating once a week. Good for her. Do we know which show Emily will be doing each week? S

This casting does put cabaret back on a possible show list for me if I am visiting London. Not as enamoured with the production as most on this board and didn't think it brought very much new to the table bar the novelty of it being in the round and the different theatre set up.
But the thing which does intrigue with Callum playing the emcee is that I don't think I have ever seen such a young actor playing the role and will be interesting to see if that does bring a new angle to a role normally played as a character who has seen it all and done pretty much of it as well which a more youthful emcee may not work so it's open for a fresher interpretation.
At 23 Callum will be 17 years younger than Eddie and a decade younger than current emcee Fra Fee. His Sally will be seven years older than him which again offers some new aspects to their relationship.
If it's a sin is not too in the past with how fads go these days he could bring a new audience to the show, having only seen him play Colin and speak in his strong Welsh accent it will again interesting to see what vocal he does put on this. Outside the box casting and all the better for it.

Another veritable “who’s that” of casting. Absolutely no need to revisit this.
I’m not one to go and see names, but having seen this already I can’t justify going back again for this cast at those prices.

I loved Callum in It's A Sin, and the clips I've seen of him in cabaret, but his age, stature and persona don't scream "male lead" to me.
He will have to project himself enormously to make the necessary mark as The Emcee.

Probably a smart idea for someone who doesn't have a ton of musical theatre experience.

Cannot see these 2 being a draw at all.
The much more starry replacements clearly fell through and now this is on its 3rd cast, they won’t attract big names anymore.
Very interested to know if this actually still sells well?

I’m not fussed about the dining so I’ll just have a standard stalls for £300 please. It will need to be a Saturday night and there’s the hotel and train fare too…

Kubrick I haven’t dragged anyone, I’ve commented on the dreadful attendance record of one of the so called “stars”. I’ve also commented on the ridiculous prices which started with a bona fide Hollywood name which some people might want to pay a premium for but now remain with people who most people have never heard of. i don’t think it’s an unreasonable aspiration to get a stalls ticket for a show on a weekend for Under £100.

Are they gradually running the “star appeal” down on this show? I feel it’s fading away

Are they gradually running the “star appeal” down on this show? I feel it’s fading away They abruptly ended that with the first cast change. I think the show is running on account of the word of mouth and awards recognition now, rather than appeal of any individuals. I'd actually think that Callum would have more recognition, at least in the crowd more likely to go see the show, owing to It's a Sin, when compared to the Marvel crowd who would know Fra.

I think it is an unreasonable aspiration, when the stalls is only 10 rows deep. You can't get a seat for most big shows in the first 10 rows for under £100 in the WE. That being said, Saturday matinees seems to be cheaper so you're in luck.
