we still do not know anything - nothing about the exact settlement maybe in a few months - Royal Albert Hall Emily Bear and Abigail Barlow posted on insta last Sunday a snippet and photos kind of trying to celebrate with Champagne - the opening of bottle did not work out well ...Abigail Barlow tagged it with a „good day“ So it seems to be possible that it...but again just speculation. Keep dreaming. It ain't happening. Perhaps the will be booked for scoring the coronation ball/party of King Charles Or if England males finally win anything in football, rugby or cricket Again we all have to wait I really hope we will get some more infos in coming weeks - negative or positive..lets wait and see.

Netflix dropping the lawsuit doesn't mean Barlow and Bear can do the concert at the RAH, what's more likely is that they've reached a settlement and they cannot ever perform it live ever again.

Fred Astaire said he never wanted a biopic made. I'm pretty sure it was even in his will.
I'm also not quite sure why you'd need modern songwriters. Surely there's so much music associated with Fred and Ginger you don't need more? Somebody excellent at arranging and underscoring, yes.

Lol at Barlow and Bear being the cutting edge of modern music. Also ridiculous to suggest the music had no relation to Fred and Gingers success.
If people won't see it because of old (but classic and timeless) music, those same people won't see a movie about an old movie actor they've never heard of.
Also, as shocking as it may seem, more than just under 30s go to the cinema.

There is a difference between this kind of old music…and a classic like Gene Kelly - Dancing in the rain… Fred Astaire, Ginger Rogers are famous because of their step dance…because of their dance routines… the music was not equally important. Btw. as shocking as it may seem.. the biggest risk for me is…that traditional cinema is kind of dead…most people watch movies at their homes now… so it‘s kind of surprising for me that they bought the rights from Amazon… Still many young people know Fred Astaire..but I doubt they know the music.

Ballroom dancing and popular music were co-evolving in the 20s and 30s. Without that style of music, the dancing wouldn't have looked like that.
And I still think it's poor form to try to cash in on something a person specifically didn't want, to the point of putting it in his will.

Barlow and Bear are no strangers to the idea of “cashing in” though are they.

If only you could have warned her that 1930s music doesn’t work anymore, she needn’t have wasted her time recording the Grammy Award winning, Billboard #1 album ‘Cheek to Cheek’ (2014) with Tony Bennett, featuring obsolete songs like: It Don’t Mean A Thing If It Aint Got That Swing (1931) Cheek To Cheek (1934-35) I Won’t Dance (1934-35) Let’s Face The Music & Dance (1936) They All Laughed (1937) The Lady Is A Trump (1937) Sadly she recorded all this rubbish anyway, and tripped up badly following it up with Bennett on the triple Grammy Award winning album ‘Love For Sale’ (2021). This second collaboration only reached #8 on the billboard chart, amply illustrating how 1930s music doesn’t work anymore, with its parade of duds like: ‘It’s De-Lovely’ (1936) ‘I Get A Kick Out Of You’ (1934) ‘You’re The Top’ (1934) ‘Anything Goes’ (1934) Many of these songs danced to by Fred Astaire, but he also danced to the totally pants ‘Puttin On The Ritz’ (1927), ‘Fascinating Rhythm (1926), ‘I Won’t Dance’ (1935), ‘S’Wonderful’ (1927). Some say these songs are ‘standards’. I say, thank heavens Barlow and Bear are available to raise standards! I’ve found the only way I can tolerate watching Fred and Ginger now is with the sound off, as without the outdated music I can properly concentrate on their step patterns which I check against an excel spreadsheet, which is what I look for in dance.

Copyright infringement is quite common in the music industry, look at how many songs use samples without the original artists' permission only for them to be credited and get royalties once it becomes a success, Also, there is quite a distinct difference between sampling 0.5-20 seconds of a song for another piece of material and writing, performing and marketing an entire musical that extrapolates and capitalises on someone else's material. Beyonce removed the Milkshake sample from her very recent track 'Energy' pretty quickly after criticism for not having cleared it. I remembered this comment.. At least they (Beyoncé and EB pianist of tour) are now performing on stage together…6 times in Tottenham Stadium in coming days

Mentioned this in the film thread, but this is a cash grab by disney who are so much trouble financially. It was announced at the earnings call so is a way to calm nervous investors.
This was a TV series that they are now editing down into a movie to get a solid brand into cinemas in the hope of rejuvenating their box office receipts

The two desperados were probably fourth or fifth choice. Shake at that “mle” 🙄. Surely not ..I am pretty sure ..that they both were first choice. .after the Grammy win..and because of the connections between Disney ..Emily Bear…and her agent Richard Kraft ..for years.. a female..who is under contract since the age of 16 next to this legends..Oscar,Tony etc. kraft-engel.com/clients/will never ever be fifth choice Yes, it seemed it was planned first as a series ..but in the end we all don‘t know.. Perhaps you should not be so negative..or not so full of envy…there seem to be a lot of „Piers Morgans“ here..lol screenrant.com/moana-2-announcement-disney-animated-movie-problems-fix/
