The presale’s already started for the ATG venues and I’ve just picked up two Band B tickets for £5 each with my theatrecard! Clearly a glitch and meant to be £5 off but grab them while you can and let’s hope they honour it. Had this for Dreamgirls in the past - £5.95 instead of £59.50 and after a few emails back and forward, they honoured them.

Surprised this playing Canterbury in Kent, which is one of the home counties, so no too far from the Barbican, but not playing Cardiff, Dublin, Birmingham and Manchester. I think they will announce more dates post London return.

I think they will announce more dates post London return. Possibly because the last tour in 2016 was cancelled half-way through they don't want to risk putting more dates on sale than there could be demand for.

Don't disagree, that was the Sheffield Crucible Xmas production?
The cities I named are big cities and Anything Goes could easily play a week or two in them. That Anything Goes tour was far too ambitious as it was announced it was going to play Dartford and Bromley both near me and a plethora of other smaller venue. It never made it to Bromley.
The King and I toured successfully pre Covid but kept it to the bigger cities, but the smaller theatres like Manchester Opera House and Birmingham Alexandra,

The King and I was really well marketed in Dublin and did really well. I think Anything Goes would go down a storm in such a lovely theatre.

Why surprised at Canterbury? This show will sell out the Marlowe easily.

Why surprised at Canterbury? This show will sell out the Marlowe easily. We don’t know if it will sell out Canterbury easily, as I said earlier it is so close to London, but the point I’m making it has missed so far bigger cities where it will sell much better.

They were using Sutton Foster's photo in the advertising for this in the weekend newspapers - is she actually going to be in it ?

That's really poor and unethical, a full-page newspaper ad yesterday just re-using the original run publicity photo with Sutton Foster.

The broadcast rights for the recording has been sold to BBC. Imagine it’ll be part of their Xmas line up. Embargoed until after cinema broadcast so as not to affect ticket sales.

Hard to say if they're unethical, incompetent or what – these are the same people who photoshopped Rachel York's face on Sutton Foster's body!

They should have just used Robert Lindsay and Felicity Kendal photos too - boost sales a bit and argue later. Seriously, I'm sure Sutton Foster and/or her agent wouldn't be happy about this.

You can bet there’s a clause in the contract that lets them do it. “Producers reserve the right to use the image for all and any marketing” blah blah blah.

I doubt any such clause extends beyond the point at which she's left the production and so is not under contract to them though - I bet they don't retain image rights then. Anyway, there's actual real law to prevent them doing this which is misrepresentation - ticket buyers now could sue them if she wasn't associated with the production at all.

I don't see any issue here at all. It's a production shot used to market the show, not any one particular person (assuming Sutton Foster is not mentioned). Sutton is not recognisable enough to the general public to claim false advertising, and I'm fairly sure she holds no rights to the images at all. Production shots from around the world have always been used when marketing shows. Especially until the shows are cast and new photos are available. Lucie Jones was on billboards in Times Square advertising Waitress (and they had their own cast in NYC).

Cinema looks quite busy for the first screening in Manc Vue tomorrow. It’s in one of the smaller ones though, I think. I do hope they do t screw up the ratio like they did for 42nd street and have all the feet cut off! 😡.

Does anyone know if there'll be an interval in the cinema broadcasts? As it's not being broadcast live (i.e. it is pre-recorded), would they still put one in?

Run times came through and there's a 20 minute interval with an interval feature included in that time.

Looking like I’ll miss the screening this afternoon, it’s snowing heavily where I live so it seems a bit foolish to get stuck whether I go by car or train . Disappointing but I guess we’re all getting used to missing things these days .

Superb transfer to film, with excellent camera work capturing the close-ups and the big numbers well. The sumptuous set was born to be on screen and the high quality production values shine through. Vocals are slightly swallowed through the central channel resulting in the spatial tonal quality present in the Barbican feeling a little strangled/processed, but the orchestra has been brilliantly captured. Not many shows transfer well to screen but this effort is as polished as the recent "Come From Away" recording on Apple TV.

Thought this transferred beautifully to the big screen. It was so well shot. Blow Gabriel Blow looked particularly fabulous.
Crowd at the Picturehouse in Henley were almost ALL late and so loud and obnoxious getting to their seats though. Absolutely ruined the first 20 minutes of the show.

I feel I'm destined to never see this production,I had booked tickets in September but had Covid and had to cancel. I thought I could see at the cinema tonight but alas I'm snowed in!! It seems to have a further screening Weds so let's hope I can book on that. Seeing Sutton in this role was a 'bucket list for me 😞. Curling up with a tub of miniature heroes and watching Deck the Halls instead.
