From the barbican Station it would be easiest to walk through the tunnel to Silk St, not the nicest but at least it's flat and the pavement is wide. I'm rubbish on distance so I'd look on Google maps to see if it's doable for yourself. I'm a fast walker and I estimate the route would take me 5 mins. The tunnel (Beech Street) is now an emission-free street, so no fumes at least if you walk through it. The Barbican reckon 5 mins walk from Barbican Station using the elevated walkways, I would think it's a bit further via the tunnel but, as above poster says, it's flat and a very simple route. Allow a few minutes extra for a slower pace and you should be fine. Map here: www.barbican.org.uk/sites/default/files/documents/2017-08/barbican_walking_map.pdf

Is the Barbican clearly signposted from Moorgate tube station and is there anywhere reasonable to eat near/at the venue ?
I’ve never been there before either

It's a fairly straightforward and easy walk from Barbican tube station. Like someone said it's not scenic by any stretch of the imagination but it is straightforward. Not approached it from any other station.

I’ve never been there before either There's a Cote at one end of the Barbican and Wagamama and a few other places at another end, but I'm afraid I'm no help with directions as despite working near there I always get lost!

I'm always walking the long route to get to the Barbican. That tunnel seems to be the usual and why does it seem to be such an effort to find this place.

Gary Wilmot is currently talking to Claudia Winkleman on Radio 2. It's the sitzprobe later this afternoon. He said there are 15 in the band; it's not an orchestra because there are no strings.

Nice that the covers are listed on the website. Interesting there are only seemingly first covers. Hopefully won’t be an occasion where both Sutton and Felicity are off if that’s the case.

Anyone else going tonight?
My first time at the theatre in 16 months, and cannot wait to see this show.

Just managed to get a Stalls Rush ticket for tonight! Pleasantly surprised, thought there’d be no chance. They even had singles. Excited about this one!

I'm going in August, I originally bought it on a whim because I had a voucher to use up but Sutton Foster has made the prospect of seeing the show more exciting.

Levels of excitement not seen since the closing night of 42nd street. A veritable storm in the Barbican.
Will be buying more tickets in the morning.

End of first half full house standing ovation! Such a lot of cheering and applause throughout. This is going to run really long! Well only till October! (And possible tour) I have to say it was an incredible night. A truly joyous evening. The production is fabulous. Glorious sets, costumes, lighting and most of all- performances. I admit I wasn’t a fan of Sutton in the show in NYC, but my god she delivers here. A true star performance. I expect she will win the Olivier. It will take some beating to top her triple threat performance. Other standouts were Carly Mercedes Dyer and Haydn Oakley. Fabulous sounding band too. I predict absolute raves for this.

How are Robert Lindsay, Felicity Kendall and Gary Wilmot? They are all very good. The whole cast is uniformly brilliant.
