Slightly OT, but I do love the general evolution of threads on this board when a top quality production comes through London. We always get the absolute raves from those who manage to get in early, "best show ever", "brilliant casting" etc. Then invariably come the folk who catch it later and post "I don't know but it just kinda left me cold", "I wasn't entirely sold on the casting"....I think it says a lot about us all. Not really a criticism, just an observation. Look at this thread for some cracking examples!
Thanks for your time.

No other board members at the last performance with Dame Sutton Foster surprised to see this not at the top of the board. First time seeing this production nd she definitely is a powerhouse and there did seem genuine support for her from the rest of the cast. Flowers for her at the final bows and several ad libs from Robert Lindsay throughout the show
She has to pack and catch a plan This cruise has been a blast Both said online in friendship routine
Have you packed your clothes yet in the finale
Lots of solid performances and the ensemble were playing as if it was a first night. Anything goes and Gabriel got the standing ovations but have to say the dance numbers did look a bit cramped on the stage. Have to admit that the sheer unstoppable joy I remember the national version at Drury lane being was not topped and at times this version did seem to run uneven and flat but look forward to seeing it on the cinema for a second look.

Or the cast start flagging a few months in, lose the sparkle, things get changed for the smooth running of the show etc. How you feel about a show after the 1st time will never be replicated again so it stands to reason.

Well I won rush today, the payment paused for about 30 seconds as usual, but then actually managed to complete. I can see a ticket in my account!
So I shall be there in Stalls Row R tonight to see Rachel York.

I'd love to hear thoughts on Rachels performance, I'm intrigued to see someone else do the role and wondering if its worth another visit

I definitely want to see her but I can't decide if it's better to go early in her run or wait for her to settle in a little.

It's such a shame!
It was a theatrical highlight of the last few years and I'd love a poster, but not THAT poster! The artwork has been so, so basic.

We’ve been told to quietly pop this on sale by midday tomorrow in cinemas before marketing kicks in on Friday if anyone wants to book for the cinema broadcast early.

This is selling so well - even without Sutton!

Wow... dodgy photoshopping aside... isn't it massively disrespectful to photoshop one actress' face onto another's body?

It was very good again tonight. Ran long though. I don't think most of the crowd had any idea it was Rachel's first performance (or even that the lead had changed).
I was very central in Row R. A clear view but further back than I'd like. There's a curtain immediately behind (presumably hiding the sound desk) which gets in the way a bit. I couldn't really tell much difference physically between Rachel and Sutton from where I was sat.
Rachel acted, sung and danced very well. If anything, she felt less forced than Sutton, which was a good thing. Lots of charm. Her voice did crack a bit though at the top end and it was noticeable during Blow, Gabriel Blow. To be fair, I did suspect that several cast members had a bug and were working through it. Rachel also looked rather tired at the end of the first half, but to be fair again, Anything Goes (the song) does wear me out just watching it, not performing in it!
Quite surprised that this didn't get any standing ovations during the show and only got a rather reluctant standing ovation at the end (hardly anyone until Rachel took her bow and then it got up to just over half the Stalls).
Robert Lindsay's ad-lib had changed to something like "you're new here, aren't you?"
Only other note is it's the third time I've seen the show and the first time I've seen Jack Wilcox on. Also the first time I haven't seen George Beet (I've seen two of his swing tracks), which is always a shame as he's great to watch.
I would certainly see Rachel again and you wouldn't be disappointed seeing her (or the show as a whole). And I definitely plan to see this at least once more before it closes.

Sorry if this has already been answered, but - Which cinemas are showing it? Thanks Should be on sale at all participating cinemas now. You’ll be able to search for which cinema is screening it on the official website when it launches on Friday in the meantime best just scouting around your locals to see if it’s on before the mob arrive and it sells out.

Caught Rachel for the second time last night, and I must say she's grown on me. She sounded much more well-rested than her first show, but did understandably look tired towards the end of the two dance numbers, which really makes you appreciate how much of a machine Sutton was a for powering through them without breaking a sweat.
Overall, I thought Rachel sung and acted more convincingly as a night club singer, while Sutton was funnier. Still a fantastic show, I'm sure I'll be back before long.

Did Sutton miss any of her shows? Or have either of Felicity or Robert been off, don’t think I’ve seen any reports on their understudies.
