I've never seen an NT Live broadcast. Are they really in black and white? Or was it just this one? Just this one I believe to fit the style of the show. I was apprehensive but felt it worked in the end.

I believe in a sitiation as unusual as this it's wrong of the company not to issue some sort of schedule for Madden/ Fox performances. It only increases the amount of unhappy public (they once who booked many months in advance to see the original chap and the ones who now would love to catch Freddie and coulnd not care less for Madden - like me ) I see your personal issue, but isn't the problem that it's impossible to schedule Richard Madden in advance because he's indisposed with his ankle and his performances depend on the strength of his recovery, day by day? If they could release the announcement in the morning of the performance day it could work too. Or they could simply schedule the alternations so that Richard has evening perf every other day, Fox - matinees and some evenings, etc. I mean I know productions are not about actors (only) and I know I'm in the minority here (who have to squeeze a number of shows in a week - every night is precious and choices are plenty), still it's a bit disappointing.. I could watch it at home in the cinema (with Madden)..

But are they really not saying until you arrive at the theatre who you'll see that night? Even as late as lunchtime, if I was keeping an eye out for an announcement I could book a seat for the same night if the actor I wanted to see was on...

I haven't tried this yet but I might call BO on Aug 2 'cause this is the only chance to see it for me. I'll report back if I manage to get any info. Will enter the lottery too - who knows how lucky one could get And if anyone going before Aug 2 pls keep us posted.

Tried twitting - to no aval. Anyone tried calling up the BO and simply ask? Or you could trip him up on his way to the theatre and you'll be guaranteed that Freddie Fox will go on that evening. Problem solved. Now I'm off to sort out Syria.

I've just cancelled my ticket for the last night (P31 at £35) - managed to swap to another night (damn you Kinky Boots cast change night). Lovely box office staff! Made my day.

I've found the box office staff there very helpful - particularly when I wanted to swap £15 tickets for something better, and helped me look at availability for various dates to get the best option. Also they let me swap two £15 tickets for one more expensive one!

Freddie Fox has v good write up today on his replacement Romeo. How do they find a replacement like this? Twitter? Or is there an actors' grapevine?

Must be a friend-of-a-friend thing. When Lauren O'Neill was out of This House for a show, they got Lisa McGrillis in and sent her on with book in hand, and she'd previously worked with Charles Edwards at the Globe. And didn't someone say Freddie Fox and Lily James have worked together before?

Fox was Romeo in Sheffield this year so it makes sense that he do it, whilst free before going to Menier Chocolate Factory. I think he is a lovely young man but no real interest in seeing this as a production.

Saw it this afternoon with Freddie - excellent performance, you wouldn't have known he had just joined company. A very happy and receptive audience for him.
The initial announcement before it started indicted that Richard was not fit to return yet

He's.
Not.
Coming.
Back.
(According to Shenton, Fox will complete the run...)

I'm amazed that he managed to pull off the filming so well if the injury is that bad.

This is sad. I was planning to see this before it ended, but seeing Richard was one of the main draws for me.
