Zizi Strallen as Betty apparently? I thought Zizi was announced as Laura Baldwin’s replacement after the first date change?

Great news. I’ve been booked for a long time. The scene has changed from not much happening to loud opening since but it’s a show I love in a theatre I’ve never visited and now a chance to see Ramin! I’m happy

It will be sublime but I still can't justify these prices. The cheapest is £50 to sit right at the back. Top price £83! Loads of availability left so they'll have to start doing some deals.
Indeed. Crazy prices. Which puts me off even more.
There's very little age difference between Ramin and Mazz, but I guess that's not so important for a concert performance.

What a rip off. Pass. With a 28 piece orchestra, cast of 16, director, choreographer and production team, I don't see it as a rip off when they're only selling 300 seats at each of the two performances. The people ripping very little profit from this are the stoic producers. I wonder how long they're rehearsing for? How much does the venue take (hire or % of box office)? Perhaps this is a prototype for some further dates; if not I can't see how it can do much more than break even - so good luck to them. Is it too much to pay though? Yes, for me - though with regret as I liked the early preview video of Mazz Murray.

I do wonder if post pandemic theatre is going to be priced out of reach for the average theatre goer....

The tickets aren't cheap and it would be nice to see a wider range of prices - but I don't think it's ripping people off as I suspect that it barely covers costs, if indeed it does. The prices are pretty much in line with another upcoming staged concert musical in London which no one seems to be complaining about paying for. But money is particularly tight and audiences have to make the choice - the umpteenth cast change of a show which could be around forever (heaven help us) or a one day only special event. Supporting up-and-coming producing talent or lining the pockets of a penny-pinching billionaire!

The average theatre goer in London (you only have to look) is white, middle aged and the upper working/middle class that have money and mostly live in places like Surrey/Essex. The next are tourists that also have money (as it’s a one off annual event). Tickets in the UK are half the price (or more) of what they are on Broadway and their shows (pre covid) sell out every night. Also important to note that London theatre (unlike the regions) is full of sales; 2for1, lotteries, deals, discounts, solt’s TKTS, theatre weeks, day seat deals and gallery seat sections with tickets in most theatres for 20 pounds.

Hmm, I probably should have worded that differently. What I meant was the "average earning theatregoer"
As you point out, the "average theatre goer" is in the affluent category

Meh, I would have preferred someone else for Joe...preferably someone who could do with the exposure...but I guess this won't hurt their ticket sales.

Any possibility there's an live-audio release of this? Would love to have a new recording of Sunset and with Ramin as Joe, that would be a major selling point

I wonder why they did not get Danny Mac. I am kind of tired of Ramin. Everyone will just be waiting for his last "Bou le vard".

Danny's wife Carley is also very very pregnant, plus they're renovating their house, so I suspect he didn't want anything extra on his plate at the moment 😀

Thanks for posting the Instagram links! I'm going Sunday, and looking forward to it - but what grated with me was the £5.75 booking fee per ticket booking fee. I know the Alexandra Palace isn't big/busy enough to merit having it's own booking system (perhaps - fringe venues often manage to have their own) but such high fees is not a good way to draw in the punters.

You're welcome!
The fees are expensive. I mean, really the whole thing is expensive! Still a lot of availability left so I do wonder if we'll see some last-minute deals emerge tomorrow.

Mazz Murray = gay icon.
God I’m excited for this.
