Anyone who went tonight, care to spoil what changes were made for the Palladium? I’m assuming it’s mostly set and staging. Heard that Be our guest was overhauled. I was there last night, unable to comment on changes as this is the first time I have seen the show but from reading previous comments about the show being a bit cheap looking I would therefore say the changes must be huge. Review to follow.

First time seeing the show on stage. Firstly it was great so see a "House Full" sign outside the Palladium and it really was packed. They had even sold standing seats at the back of the stalls. Brilliant audience too and very enthuastic. Full standing ovation certainly from the stalls as soon as it finished. Audience was reasonably behaved, but lots of people trying to film or take pics especially during Be Our Guest but the ushers were out in force. Quite a few children but not as many as for a performance of Frozen. Probably as this was a Friday night. A child was sick during the show a few rows in front but sorted quickly.
As for the show, well I really enjoyed it. I had read previously on the thread that some people thought it was a bit cheap so either they have made huge improvements or my vision of cheap is totally different to others. This was quite a lavish production with a mixture of very clever projections and sets. Stand out scene was Be Our Guest which was spectacular and you could see they had thrown everything into it including the famous Palladium revolve and a nod to Busby Berkley. Cast very good. I thought Courtney Stapleton as Belle was really suited to the role. Shaq Taylor had a lovely voice but it did wobble a couple of times during his big number. The stand out for me was Gavin Lee who played Lumiere who was just the right side of flamboyant and camp. He certainly got the biggest applause of the night. Also didn't realise Sam Bailey (X Factor winner) was in it - she played Mrs Potts. I've given it 4 stars but its more of a 4.5 for me. Started about 5 minutes late which was due to getting everyone into the theatre and finished about 10.15pm Good range of merch (of course there would be as its Disney) Programmes £6 and there is also a glossy brochure. Also a very nice fridge magnet to add to my collection on the fridge.

Rather than ‘cheap’ my criticism of it was more related to the vast swathes of empty space on the stage, and it looking empty of people and set pieces.

Absolutely no changes to Be Our Guest at all. Changes to the Prologue staging with new costumes for the Prince at beginning and the enchantress. New Belles cottage with ‘Me’ completely restaged. Lots of changes to rear video wall content. Courtney was absolutely incredible. Oliver nom coming her way imo. Gavin Lee also amazing. The whole cast were.

I thought they restored the Palladium revolve for The Wizard of Oz a decade ago.

I thought they restored the Palladium revolve for The Wizard of Oz a decade ago. No. That was built for the production. It tilted and lit up etc. The palladium one was removed- and never reinstalled as it wasn’t helpful to 99% of shows going there. Now the whole stage is modular and so each show can put their own equipment in the basement.

Is anyone familiar with the boxes at the Palladium? There seem to be 7 on sale (four two person ones stage right, two two person ones and the four person royal box stage left) but only three are listed on seatplan.
I'm guessing some must be higher and some lower, possibly with ones closer to the stage and ones further away like at the Shaftesbury. Trying to figure out if any of them might be worth it for this show.

Some nice seats on the Disney Days. Managed to bag a seat for £25 that they are trying to sell (unsuccessfully) for £170 through official site.

I enjoyed this last night with one of the £25 tickets in the side stalls.
I don't think I've ever seen the film of this (and I've never seen this on stage), but it was certainly an elaborate production. Almost exclusively an adult audience in the Stalls, although there was one loud (and I think very young child) a few rows back who kept talking to the people they were with. The usual issues with ushers stopping photographers, talking, phones going off etc, but I've had worse at Disney shows.
The highlight is easily Be Our Guest. The whole shows feels a few minutes too long, but it was also a longer night than usual with an extended interval due to a medical issue at the back of the Stalls. Getting into the theatre is chaos.
I also ended up sitting between a mother and daughter who wanted to talk across me to each other, although I'm not certain what language this was in. I offered to swap seats and was given the type of response that suggested they were doing me a favour. I'm glad I did swap, as they continued to talk during the show and there was a bit of phone checking from both parties.
Not completely full, but looked well attended throughout. Might see it again later in the run.

Just out of curiosity, have they included the new songs from the recent film (namely Evermore) or are they sticking to the original song list?

No Matter What is quite a dreary song so no real loss they've cut it. I find it strange that despite cutting three songs, the show is still 2 hours 40 minutes.

Youtube just recommended this to me. Highlight reel of the original Broadway cast, for those who might be interested.
Susan Egan is brilliant but I always see Megara whenever hear her sing.

Well that was definitely a lot more strobe (or at least strobe effect) lights than I anticipated!
A sweet show, overall. Belle's dress reveal really is gorgeous - you can't go wrong with a little bling, but the big showstopper numbers were definitely lacking in spectacle. With little in the way of physical set for a lot of them, a relatively sparse ensemble, and some lacklustre ensemble costumes, they fell a bit flat. The extended dance breaks just drag it out and make it feel a little sad. I'm thinking specifically Be Our Guest and Gaston here, and also Human Again. The title song was gorgeous, though. And a very well behaved audience, considering the large number of kids in princess dresses. Worst people were the middle aged women behind me who rustled a bag of sweets all the way through both acts... Worth a visit, certainly.
