We should have a new production of Mermaid here. Preferably one by talented creatives and some money behind it.

And no roller skates!
I don’t think the “new director” will bring much different to B&TB tbh. He was a key creative from the original production, so it will probably just be a facsimile of whatever was intended, but with the choreographer potentially directing the actors better than his predecessor. The bar was low.

Are we expecting this tour go go ahead on it’s current advertised dates, because it could be my birthday treat in Bristol in August?

Are we expecting this tour go go ahead on it’s current advertised dates, because it could be my birthday treat in Bristol in August? The Bristol Hippodrome dates were recently changed and the run there reduced by a couple of weeks. Tickets were off sale for a while, presumably while ticket holders for the cancelled performances were contacted and rebooked. I'd say the tour is as likely to go ahead as currently scheduled as can be said about any other show. I had a booking for Leicester, now cancelled and refunded, and grabbed a decent seat for a weekday matinee at Bristol as soon as booking reopened. Saturday matinees are already close to sold out.

Nice to be on this forum The whole cast is displayed in the official website. Hidden, but searchable on Google. Courtney Stapleton is due to play Belle, with Emmanuel Kojo as Beast, Tom Senior as Gaston, Gavin Lee as Lumiere and Sam Bailey as Mrs Potts. Courtney is a very interesting choice in my opinion. Not what I expected.

Good that they haven't added any of the new characters from the horrid live action remake

Totally convinced by this cast and booked much pricier tickets than I normally would as a result. Will we be getting ‘Evermore’ though?

Evermore could definetly be included. It’s the only of three 2017 songs which has a place for it to be added. I do hope the rest of the score remains unchanged. Especially that they don’t cut the Overture and Entr’Acte to save time. Let’s hope Disney gets a good sized orchestra for this tour, and doesn’t do a reduction “a-la-Cam Mack”.

From the Baz Bamigboye article: "It's a trimmer production: sensitively overhauled with new sets, costumes and orchestrations". Though as usual with Baz the article is poorly written and peppered with errors so who knows what 'trimmer' or 'sensitively' means.

I'll shout Sam Bailey some love if no-one else will, I think she's fab. Yes, not a great actress, but those pipes!

Indeed - that was a UK Theatre Award nomination - as was the one for Showboat (in Sheffield - rather than the London transfer). Nor was Emanuel in The Scotsboro Boys at the Young Vic, he joined for the Garrick Theatre transfer a year later. I guess the best that can be said for Baz's journalism is that it sits well alongside the rest of the newspaper!
Back to Beauty and The Beast!!

Hmmm... interesting... the village sets look pretty cool. I'm guessing the sets aren't going to be as huge as the original Dominion ones because this is being done as a touring production from the get-go, but they still look good.
