Thursday was Ricardo. I'm also jealous of the Declan/Ricardo show tonight, I don't think I'm going to get to see them together now unless they mix up the trios for closing (which I suppose is possible but my instinct is that they'll stick to the trios they started with for the last day).

My first rainy day at Regents Park. Pepe/Ricardo/Maimuna. For the matinee. As it was raining just before the start of the show they dried the stage and we began about 15:10. Some light drizzle came about 10 mins in and at 15:30 after Hosanna the show stopped to dry some more. For the next portion of the show the rain was on and off and it got quite heavy around Blood Money. I was surprised we didn’t stop at the usual interval time and we continued through to just before Peters Denial. This was quite a long break as the stage and to me mopped as well as dried.
Good to catch Pepe after seeing Declan and Ricardo together twice already.

Just on a rain stop at the moment, just before Gethsemane.

Wow, what a brilliant show tonight. There was a bit of rain and it was funny to see everyone get their umbrellas out and hoods up at the same time. Amazing performances from Everyone and I didn’t think it was quieter sound wise. Ricardos vocals are fantastic and Declan’s performance was brilliant! A really fantastic night. Will be really sad to see it go

It’s Declan/ Ricardo/ Anoushka again tonight. Now I'm really gutted... I gave my ticket away for tonight... I almost didn’t go- and I ended up buying my ticket as I was travelling across town this evening to get to the theatre- I hadn’t been that spur of the moment since Bat! That now takes me to 4 Pepe and 4 Declan shows, having seen Declan for my last 3 shows. I have a proper seat booked for tomorrow night which I am rather relieved about, because although the grass is the bargain of the century and a brilliant view, it can prove quite challenging if like me your mobility isn’t always great. It has however allowed me to see this production much more than I would have which I am very grateful for.

Just had an email from the Open Air theatre with the subject line and update on your visit.’ Which I opened with my heart in my mouth but it’s ok.
AN UPDATE ON YOUR VISIT We wanted to be in touch ahead of your visit to the theatre this weekend. As we are unable to facilitate table service, in line with changes to government guidance, alcohol cannot be purchased at the venue. The bar is open for non-alcoholic drinks.
You can still pre-order bottles of wine and champagne up to 4 hours prior to the performance. Pre-orders can be made here.
Thank you for your understanding.
Kind regards The Open Air Theatre Team

So Ricardo has done 4 shows already this week...I was hoping I'd get to see him once more over the last weekend but not sure how likely that's looking now!

I’ll be on the lawn for the rest of the shows (except Sunday matinee where I have a seat ) so please do say hello if you think you spot me! Despite my age I usually have a stick with me so am quite easy to spot. It’d be nice to put some faces to names if you’re in 🙂
In saying that I’ve not actually bought my ticket for tomorrow night as yet, but I am wondering if it might be a Declan show so...

The show tonight was insane, especially Pepe. He's come such a long way since the beginning of the run and tonight he totally killed it, even got a mid-song ovation in Gethsemane. I think the ensemble was one member short and Charlotte Riby was on for soul singer (and, tbh, Superstar sounds so much better when she sings the whole chorus).
On another note, Pepe has 2 shows left, I think Ricardo has only one, and Anoushka posted that tonight was her last show with this duo. Predictions for the remaining shows?

Kind regards The Open Air Theatre Team I received the same update, accompanied by the same heart stop moment for this evening’s show! I don’t quite understand this stance though. Isn’t the point of the new rules to stop people queuing and congregating in bulk at a bar? So table service is required whatever is being sold, not specific to just alcoholic beverages? How can the bar still be open for everythibg else? It feels like they’ve misunderstood the point of the rules (which I totally understand is easy to do with this government’s guidelines)

I think it's also to do with getting pissed and social distancing going out the window. Always a problem at the Open Air Theatre of course. And you can still pre-order bottles so....
One size has to fit all I guess. Such a shame when they've gone to so much trouble to make it work, the bar system works so well, and it's a vital source of extra revenue. Maybe consider donating what you would have spent on a drink?
