Why, oh why, did I even want to see this, let alone spend so much on a ticket (one of the most expensive I've ever bought), only to find it left me cold? I literally left, too.

It is just incredible, only a few shows that live up to the cast recordings. Saw it again for the second time and iy was just as good. The upgrade was epic , from gallery to the stalls row G. If you are trying to get upgraded go early because they had a pile of new tickets ready to upgrade but when that runs out its your original seat! I picked my ticket at around 7:05ish. Make sure to book the gallery, the upper circle was full and a only a couple of people in the gallery who picked their tickets up later.

Well, some you win, etc. Overall I had a good day as I enjoyed the film, matinee of Small Island and the Lee Krasner exhibtion in the Barbican Gallery - which I recommend to those seeing the show if they have time - so 3 out of 4. And unlike some, I do like the Barbican Theatre though have only ever sat in the stalls.

I’ve been spending quite a lot of time with this show. A couple of things are perplexing me, wonder if people on here might be able to help me.
At the matinee this week, quite a large group of people got to their feet at the end of Superstar. I am reasonably sure that they thought it was the end. Because it does feel like the end and I am not sure it makes sense for the crucifixion to take place after that song. Anyone shed any light as to why it’s ordered like this?
I also don’t understand why Judas’ ghost comes back to sing that song. I put it down to it being an insane musical theatre decision, but maybe someone else has a reasonable rationale?

I like that framing because it puts Jesus’ perspective front and centre. How can we square the fact that Judas is singing from our time period? I just watched the Arena tour. What a terrible production, would love to hear from anyone who saw it live. Very glad I rented it and didn’t buy it. What has now happened though, is my husband really really really doesn’t want to come and see it on Monday night with me. |

Was completely blown away this afternoon, it was amazing. How was Rosie's Mary? I would love to see her, not only because I was underwhelmed by the lead Mary but also because Rosie was amazing as one of the Fates in Hadestown. |

She was great, I had no idea she was the understudy until I saw the sign on my way out. Very clear, powerful voice. The whole cast were just amazing though and the choreography was stunning. |

scarpia I don’t know him, but now I am warned! I thought Tim Minchin was the best thing in it, but the way he was allowed to ignore the melody when he sang the reprise of ‘I Don’t Know How To Love Him’ enraged me.

Also on "I will drink you cup of poison" They've made it more dramatic by slowing it down and having extra drum bits. I would watch it again in a heartbeat. ive decided that when I see a musical I cannot compare it to JSC because I will be disappointed because its on another level! |
