Obviously sorry to hear this but also slightly hopeful they will reschedule for a time I can do. At the moment it's still only being rescheduled for 7 / 8 August. No mention of further dates.

Hopefully he's back on form for next week.
I'm not joining in this time - Zoom didn't work well last time out in terms of video quality, so I don't hold any confidence it will be better this time.
If you're going to pay a decent price, you'd expect a decent stream - not much point paying for a pixelated mess.

I read an article about this, but hadn't twigged that I was supposed to join a ticket queue until reading this thread today, so a bit annoyed about that angle, but I'll cope.
I suppose in doing it live they want to limit how many tune into each stream to make sure that their end of things cope. There might be an argument that the biggest theatre fans will have known about the queue and deserve the cheapest tickets, but that forgets how life gets in the way for a lot of us.
I think many people treated the NT Live streams as a kind service they were providing to help us all cope with lockdown, and didn't give much thought to the fundraising side of things. 20p per stream sounds a bit rubbish, but with millions of streams, it's still a decent chunk of money, and a lot of good will for NT. The danger is that their generosity makes other tickets streams seem less generous, and we have high expectations of the same camera angles and resolution that were available to us when it was all pre-recorded in pre-COVID days.

They say £320k in total, which is virtually nothing compared to their costs, unfortunately. Agree that it was a public service more than anything else, and God bless them for it. But if it has set the expectation that online=free and it's something that theatres are somehow obliged to be doing, that seems quite dangerous to me. What happens to that good will when they say they can't keep giving away the milk if no one is paying to come to the farm? People turn tremendously quickly when they feel they are being denied something they are entitled to...

What happens to that good will when they say they can't keep giving away the milk if no one is paying to come to the farm? People turn tremendously quickly when they feel they are being denied something they are entitled to... Indeed. At first glance, £320,000 sounds like a lot, and I'm sure they won't be sniffing at it either, but with proper income generation a long way off, it's not going to do much. I'd used up my allowance of free articles, so couldn't read the detail, so not sure if that figure includes the advertising revenue from YouTube, although I don't suppose it's going to go far either. I did notice that the first screening had a link to donate in the video description, while later screenings had the TEXT 20 to xxxxx to donate £20, which I imagine is far more effective. It would be interesting to see if that made a difference. However, there will be people who think 'well, I donated last week ...', which is fine if money is tight, and yet ... Someone may have mentioned this already, but it struck me that the ticket model for Three Kings is perhaps planning for how to make up the difference if theatres open with a socially distanced audience in the theatre itself. So a third of the usual audience is watching in the theatre, with the other two thirds at home.

Three Kings to be Rescheduled
We're sorry to let you know that Andrew Scott is still not well enough to perform and we'll be rescheduling all performances of Old Vic: In Camera – Three Kings and Old Vic: In Conversation to give him the time he needs to fully rest and recover. We'd like to reiterate that the issue isn't serious (or COVID-19 related).
The new dates will be confirmed soon. You don't need to do anything at the moment – your booking is safe and we'll contact you as soon as possible with information on how to move to one of the new performance dates.
Together with Andrew we want to send our heartfelt thanks to you all for your well wishes and for being so incredibly supportive and understanding at this really difficult time.
We're currently operating with a reduced and very hard working team so we'd ask that you wait until we can confirm the rescheduled performances before contacting the Box Office team with questions about your booking if possible.

I'd already cancelled my ticket as I couldn't make the other dates and they have sent an email offering me the chance to rescind my cancellation and wait to see if the new dates suit me, which is very good customer service. All credit to them, this must be a nightmare to deal with when they presumably just have a skeleton team working.

I had half-hoped optimistically that maybe they would make it a longer run with a physical audience in some form but alas. Also rebooked for Friday.

Has anyone had their links yet? I’ve had the In Conversation link for tonight but no link for the actual play

Has anyone had their links yet? I’ve had the In Conversation link for tonight but no link for the actual play Got my link to today’s play around midnight last night, along with a follow-up email to check I’d got it. I don’t have an In Conversation booking, but they did make clear you’d get a separate link for that. They might be staggering the sends, or there may have been a technical issue around sending two links to customers booked for both the play and the chat. If you don’t have the play link yet, I’d suggest checking with the Old Vic for peace of mind.

The FAQs state that two separate links will be sent, one for the performance, and another for the 'in conversation'.
Links will be emailed at least 12 hours before a performance, and to contact the box office as soon as possible if there is less than 12 hours to curtain up.

Thought it was a strong performance in what must be very unnerving circumstances, though I imagine it helps to have done film. In terms of the script, I think it would have been stronger to cut after the reveal. The last section raises nothing new.

Brilliant performance by Andrew Scott tonight, this was definitely worth the wait. I agree with a previous poster it will help that he has film experience as there was quite a bit of eye contact with the camera.

This is excellent, though a difficult watch for us (I don't read trigger warnings because I don't want spoilers). I hope it's filmed for TV at some point - or has an afterlife at a studio theatre if normal service is ever resumed (it's not a piece for a large theatre like the OV in normal conditions)

Really enjoyed this this afternoon. I was a bit concerned Zoom might not work on my knackered old iPad, but thankfully it did, though the way the sound cuts out at the second he stops speaking is really annoying
Agree wholeheartedly with what others have said above. Great performance. Also could have done without the last bit. Bit weird to have him bowing to recorded applause.
I was going to book the next one, but then saw it's a Brian Friel play. I know it's a huge generalisation but from past experiences Irish drama and I don't seem to get on, so I think I'll give that one a miss.
