Did anyone manage to see Charlotte Kennedy as Eliza yesterday? Wondered whether worth booking to try and see her specifically. I saw her years ago in Les Mis. Watching tonight and she is on as Eliza and quite simply stunning ! Just loving her performance !! No Miss Redgrave ! Plus just stalls and dress circle are open !

And is it still only six venues? Based on how it seems to be selling on tour so far I'm not sure they'll risk more venues 🤷♂️

Can anyone confirm if Vanessa returned this week? West end covers announced her understudy on Thurs so presume not….

If she hasn’t been on for weeks and weeks- I’d say she won’t bother returning.

Not too much to add here - sound and scenery issues were already flagged upthread. Saw this yesterday evening via a TodayTix rush ticket. Aircon was sadly struggling…
I found it really hard to get into- all the screamy bits at the beginning could definitely be condensed. Though it got better and more absorbing half an hour in. First time seeing this - beautiful melodies, references to classism still relevant, treatment by book pretty dated.

Ridiculous and insulting that they’re still selling tickets using her name as a selling point.

I'd love to see the show again with Vanessa in it but after seeing how Glenda Jackson was struggling to get on the stage at the BFI the other week, I think I'd feel bad paying to see someone struggling through 8 shows a week. She's more than earned her stripes in her career and it sort of feels like we're making her into some sort of rare animal in a zoo. If she was struggling as much as people say she was in that first week, it's probably for the best that she doesn't continue but I do think they should change the name on the poster and press materials and give whoever is understudying the credit - they've been doing a fab job !

Seats for £27.50 with this offer. Just booked a central stalls row G seat (normally £87.50) and it worked ok. I was not going to bother for this production but a good seat at the lower price makes it worth a punt. The offer does not work for the premium seats.
Enter code MFLWOS25 after selecting your chosen date to get best available seats for just £25* - book before Tue 9 August!
Valid for performances from Tue 2 August until Fri 26 August, excluding Thursday matinees and both shows on Saturday.

Thats a great offer. I paid full stalls price to see it when it opened. Should have waited but its not a show I especially want to see again even with the discount. Some friends this week asked me about offers and I found an offer for stalls seats for £60. They were pleased as its saved them £30 a ticket so I don't think I'll mention this offer to them. They won't be pleased.

Looks like the offer maybe more limited or fully taken up as I tried a Tuesday matinee and evening and code not accepted but the date I had been looking at had a lot less seats available now and they have now uplifted the prices on the remaining seats back up to the prices people weren't not buying them at before, Plenty of seats available still and looks unlike some of the non operatic shows which have played the Coliseum in the summer that it is co produced by the the ENO. Unless they do have a sellout August or the tour suddenly attracts more bookings the production won't be helping the ENO balance sheet much.

I have just tried the ticket code again and it does still work. After clicking on "I have a ticket Code" Enter the code and click on Find Tickets and you should see the text "What's on Stage £25 100th perf promo". Then select any seats except the top price ones and the price will momentarily show the full price (if the system is slow) and then change to £27.50. It does not work for matinees though.

Any update on casting for the Tour? I was thinking that, surely leaving things rather late. I liked the tour which was about 2006? Honor Blackman was sublime as Mrs Higgins and Amy Nuttal was a charming Eliza.

Use code "LOVERLY" to get £10 off a ticket on TodayTix. Seems to work on Day Seats too. Almost tempted to see it again.

My Fair Lady’s Twitter account (and I expect their other social platforms too) have just posted a short statement from Vanessa Redgrave confirming her departure from the production, saying she needs a rest following a stretch of Covid.
Hardly surprising and confirms what we already knew/assumed, but it’s almost offensive to finally release a statement now given she’s been absent from the production for over two months! I guess they held out as long as they could to try and support the already poor ticket sales 😞

Seems like this has been a big disappointment for the ENO. Let’s hope they can get the casting and promos right for the tour.

Seems like this has been a big disappointment for the ENO. Let’s hope they can get the casting and promos right for the tour. Such a shame as I really enjoyed it when I went, but for whatever reason it’s not quite clicked or taken off with audiences. And it’s a big theatre to fill!

I think it's difficult to sell a classic show nowadays unless you REALLY nail it (like Anything Goes with Sutton Foster did) - and this show just didn't. It was an adequate production but nothing special. A shame really as the musical itself is one of my favourites.

I do hope it's a good cast especially as they're advertising a large orchestra. The production will hopefully sit much more comfortably on our stage at the Bord Gais in Dublin and there is a great energy between the house and stage.
