Prob we covered some of this in other threads but I was thinking which theatre people or companies have coped best with this shock to the system who has got up and tried stuff, who is getting support on board, official and punters, what plans that have been put forward are best and who has or will fall by the wayside?
I’m unimpressed by lack of imagination in some quarters and very impressed by efforts made by Jermyn St Theatre, punching well above their weight. But I am not party to or following a very big field here so what have I missed?

I was very impressed with the Albert Hall. Refund within the day after cancellation.

Arts Theatre and Capital Theatres Edinburgh have been the most straightforward and easy so far. They contact you by email when they get knowledge of a show being cancelled and then you email them with your order number and process you want to go through (credit/refund/exchange)
With both places I’ve been responded to very quickly - in less than a week for Capital, and within an hour for the Arts, and had no issues with money returning to my account.

Prob we covered some of this in other threads but I was thinking which theatre people or companies have coped best with this shock to the system who has got up and tried stuff I haven’t listened yet, so I can only say that this sounds like a promising example of theatre people who have “got up and tried stuff”: today’s Wall Street Journal has a very positive review of an audio-only performance of a new play by Alan Ayckbourn called Anno Domino. The review describes the play as “a two-actor, eight-character play originally intended for the stage but newly adapted by Mr. Ayckbourn for audio-only production”. Ayckbourn and his wife, Heather Stoney, recorded the performance at home and play all eight roles. It can be listened to for free through June 25 on the Stephen Joseph Theatre’s website, sjt.uk.com.

Well not strictly theatre related but certainly somewhere a lot of people went to before a show. Cote restaurant chain started a delivery service for their favourite restaurant dishes. Started with limited menu and only within the M25 but its expanded now to the whole of the UK. They have expanded the menu, added cheeses, wines, butchery and gone from delivery anytime on a chosen day to 2 hour slots and really upped the standard of packaging. Judging from the FB comments people are really impressed. I've got my 4th order coming tomorrow and have nothing but praise. So even though I can't go to the theatre I can have my pre theatre meal. I'm very impressed as they have really put a lot of thought into how they can keep going through this pandemic and hopefully come through the other end.

Newcastle Theatre Royal handled refunds really well, I thought. They sent an email promptly, with details of the options (refund, donation, credit) and links you could click to choose which one. Completely painless. The only down side is that they didn't give the option to give the lot as a donation, closest was 50% donation, 50% credit voucher, but it was really quick and easy.
