Speaking of which, who has been understudying Glenda (that's her real name y'know) on Broadway and has she been on? Nancy Anderson, who unlike La Jones, is not a stand-by but an actual understudy (and so appears in the show's ensemble anyway) She's not been on to my knowledge. She would have been a young Norma. I believe she's only about 44. Glenn hasn't missed any performances as of yet

Unless I am mistaken or have missed it (I doubt I would, it would of been big news on Broadway boards and probably on here too) but Glenn has not missed a single performance of the show yet on Broadway? I know that shouldn't be amazing or anything as it is her job, but at her age, in that role, considering she struggled with just 40 performances in London, that's pretty impressive!

I think it's wise. The times I've felt let down by an underpowered Maaaaaaaaayyy. The biggest note of the show is her last , so it's only fair she get a little help. Especially with all them stairs.

I can't confirm if it's true or not, but it's possible. And normally I would think that if they do have a click track, it's probably there to boost her up and not to completely substitute her vocals. So she probably starts the big note, but somewhere in the middle a click track is introduced and her actual live vocal faded out. The person who told me claims she did it fully live in London, but they decided to be on the safe side in New York.

Wish they'd film it for cinema broadcast. I'd wet my knicks. Likelihood is minimal. All relies on the hollywood powers (that be) to release the rights/grant permission.

Every individual performance her mouth will have a slightly different shape and as a result a slightly different intonation, the vowel will sound different as a result, thats how humans work, we're not robots. If the track suggestion is real then its much more likely that i'd be the last entire phrase.. IE: "Glenn: With One look... Track: I'll be mee".

Really quite shocked that Sunset was snubbed for Best Revival at the Drama Desk Awards today considering every awards show thus far has nominated it for Revival. It only received one nomination, for Best Lighting Design.

I'd say that you're right on this, ali973 - I saw it twice during my recent NY trip and all 4 times she hit the note.....however there did seem to be a tiny gap between her opening her mouth and the sound coming out on the final note on Sunday.... That said, still loved it and thought that Fred Johanson in particular was excellent, Siobhan Dillon was off and her understudy, Britney Coleman, was fabulous. Bit more merch here than at London, I got the souvenir brochure and a mug to add to my collection. I managed to resist the Norma collection jewellery, which looks like they bought out the remaining stock of Elizabeth Duke jewellery from Argos....

My friend also saw Britney Coleman and said it was refreshing to see an AA playing Betty. What he didn't find refreshing was the very loud sound of a toilet being flushed immediately after Norma says, "and now Mr. DeMille, I'm ready for my close up"

And there was a live video floating of As If We Never Said Goodbye where you could hear she was "talk-singing" more than the times I saw it. As for recording this/filming this - for those of you who saw it in London, didn't they have a Q & A with Lonnie one evening and he said that it was being recorded? We're hoping that the producers here might be pissed about the obvious slight of the Tony Awards and decide to film and release it, but...

They hold the rights to the original B&W Movie and as such they have the final say as to whether ALW can proceed with a recording which in the past they havnt wanted.

ALW talking about the film of Sunset on EP's show today. Said it was out of his hands but there is a possibility of it and he would love Glenn as Norma if it happened I wish they would just record the damn thing on stage as they did Love Never Dies or Phantom of the Opera (25th anniversary). It's hard to imagine Paramount agreeing to a full-blown re-doing of the film, and I'm not sure it would even work. But to have this preserved with a well shot filming of it would be phenomenal. Interesting that Oliver Stone, George Lucas, Steven Spielberg have all been to the Palace Theatre to see it though.
