Watched again tonight on Disney + (always a favourite).
They could go so many ways with casting for this. As others have said, Jo Riding would be fantastic, or if they were to go for a younger Miss Price, maybe Emma Williams. But there are countless leading ladies who could be cast in this role and make it their own.
The plot will need some padding, it is particularly messy towards the end, but they have some great numbers to work with - I hope they will write a lot more in for the kids.

I expect the plot will be heavily reworked tbh. Many sequences from the film will likely be cut and maybe more from the books added. I'm all for Emma Williams actually if they go younger. I think she's seriously underrated and I can't believe she hasn't done Mary Poppins yet.

I think she's seriously underrated and I can't believe she hasn't done Mary Poppins yet. I also rewatched over Christmas and it's really such a magical film! Always preferred it to Mary Poppins even as a child. The plot does get rather thin when they get to the Isle of Naboombu, but if anything there's actually more plot to the movie than there is the original Poppins film so they have more of a structure to start with. And like Mary Poppins there are plenty of sequences which could be tweaked or replaced completely and still make sense to the flow of the show. I can see the whole football (Soccer?!) sequence being dropped in favour of something completely different from the books - similar to the switch from the horse racing to the sweet shop in the Mary Poppins stage adaptation. I'm still shipping Laura Pitt-Pulford for Miss Price.

More venues added to the tour.
Can’t wait to see this! Surely they’ll announce casting soon?

A few songs were cut from the film, so that would add a bit of time if they put them back in.
The books are very different from the film. Emelius Browne comes from 1666 for a start!

Just booked two tickets for Curve, I think Laura Pitt-Pulford would be a good fit if they went younger

From what I understand the workshop was done with an older Ms Price (late 40s early) but she was told that when this hits the stage they're going to cast the role younger, so I'd agree that LPP is about the right sort of age (although she has a young child now so practically that may not work)

Is Bedknobs and Broomsticks really that well-loved to do such an extensive tour? I’ll have to have another look at it, but when I saw it a couple of years ago on TV I thought it was pretty unremarkable and don’t remember any of the songs.

I think so - it was a staple of my childhood, it's one of Angela Lansbury's best films, and it's just joyful!

It’s 3 words that people recognise, or at least think they do; with the Disney name behind it. Stick ‘Bippitty Bobbitty Boo’ behind any advert and you’re onto a winner!

They should try that for all musicals. Bippitty could fix the problems with Martin Guerre's book, Bobbitty could sell thousands of tickets for a rare Sondheim musical and Boo could make Wonder.land good

Shhhhh, nobody needs to know that it does‘t have any songs they’ll know. I just thought ‘Circle of Life’ was too obvious. 😂

Now for the guessing game, what theater is available from May 2022 to house this in the West End!?
I'm going with the Lyric, once Bob Marley concludes in April.
